Hopefully more to follow.
I'm not sure about the contracts for most of the ex academy lads, although I have seen it written that Dylan Lawlor's contract is up next summer? Ronan Kpakio, Dakarai Mafico and Tanatswa Nyakuhwa all signed their first professional contracts last summer - which i assume are 2 year deals?
If that is right all four of them - now First Team players - have got less than a year left?

Re: Ollie Tanner pens new deal
Great signing he’s turned out to be for £50,000. Can see him being instrumental this season and is definitely a championship quality player.

Re: Ollie Tanner pens new deal
Hope he’s got a relegation release clause put in

Re: Ollie Tanner pens new deal
"pens new deal" is horrible journalese

Re: Ollie Tanner pens new deal
The goals the scored against Swansea and Bristol City amongst other moments show he does have quality in there somewhere. For him, along with Colwill, Ashford, Davies etc this is a big season. Fail to perform to a decent level and they’ll be likely to bounce around the lower divisions for the rest of their careers.

Right, they found the pen, so what’s holding up the Trott signing?

His mother, Elsie, will be so proud.

He dropped the pen a couple of times so now we are having a rethink.

Makes as much sense as anything I can come up with to explain why someone who arrived here on Wednesday last week ro sign for us (so we were told), still hasn't done so a week later.

1st game of the season, youngest line up this century, goal down at half time, come back to win with 2 magnificent goals. What’s to complain about? At least let’s get up and running before the daggers come out.
If Tanner beat a player everytime and put a pin point cross in, he wouldn’t be playing in league 1.

He wouldn't be playing in League 1, you're right about that, Although he is wasteful in possession and he isn't particularly intelligent on the ball at times, He doesn't always have to beat his man or get the cross in, He has to learn to start again and pick his moments. Tanner is a player who needs volume to play well, He'll do the same things with a ball in the hope that it works rather than weighing it up in my opinion. There is ability, pace and he is direct, Barry Murphy obviously thinks that he can make Tanner more economic in possession, think better, and become a bit more than a player who just picks up possession and drives towards the opposition from a wide area (whether it works or not) that's a good thing.

Incredible value at that figure. Definitely able to be effective at this level.

Quite interesting that his current contract ran from October 2023 until June 2027, thus his salary would have been excluded from the financial fair play rules (I.e. signed pre Aug 2024). I wonder if Tanner’s new deal starts from July 2027 so the club can keep his wages off the salary cap calculations for the next season, or two.
If we have found a financially creative way of extending player contracts, Lawlor’s situation should now be a priority.
I think from the starting eleven against Peterborough, Turner, Bagan and Wintle also have contracts expiring next summer.

Does Ken Choo need to be there for new signing photoshoots?
Even though nobody has seen him for months, holding a pen at photoshoots is the only thing he gets paid for, so we’ll have to wait for his return.
I can’t see us doing anything sensible, like getting a mannequin from the club shop to sit alongside Trott.
