Had a poor game but so did pretty much everyone.
I think that so many players have lost their confidence.
Cian Ashford looked fantastic when he came on the scene. Now he looks timid almost.
Tanner is totally up to the standard we are playing at. No disguising that he was woeful last night though.
Do we have a Sports psychologist?
Tanner's issue is consistency. There's a good player there, but it's about getting it out more often. He could develop into a solid second-tier winger, but he, like Wintle, shows flashes of brilliance but then has games where he's a passenger or less.

If he has said it was not good enough and that he will continue to learn and improve, that is fine.
However from what I have seen from him so far this was an example of a lack of discipline in even doing the basics right.

Tanner was a revelation when he first signed. Like, where did we find this guy? But two years or so later, he’s a shadow of that player. Why? It’s been trained out of him. Don’t take chances, pass back inside, etc. Sure, we occasionally get the odd burst of the old Tanner, but now he looks timid and he never takes on his man.
You could argue the same about Ashford, to some extent, and even Darland. I don’t know what they coach them down there, but something is not right. Hopefully with the new management, players will be given free rein to express themselves more.
The over hit crosses of Tanner and Willock together with some of the others could have been the result,in part, of the nature of the pitch which seemed unusually small. The area from touchlines to the crowd, for a smallish ground, appeared enormous. Just a thought.
