Is it right to say that you've not been backed by the board?
Brian Barry-Murphy in today's press conference answering a question on transfers.
"No.
"I think patience is obviously important and I'm very particular on what we want to bring into the club.
"There's always going to be slight, I suppose, nuance around certain players that we want to bring in may become available, or may not become available based on how the window progresses. And just being ready for that.
"But the support from the board has been constant. At this moment, we feel very aligned on what we ought to bring in. It's very clear and I've been very happy with it."
"Individual circumstances of each player that we may or may not be in for will be different, so we have to understand that they're not our players as such as yet.
"We have to understand that we may have to be patient and wait until the right moment to get them into the club.
"I've been very clear on what we want to bring into the club and I guess the timescale for people on the outside can just be a bit frustrating because it's unknown."

It's a diplomatic response.

Hopefully no more square pegs into round holes

Sounded more like a 'yes' to me.

Re: Is it right to say that you've not been backed by the board?
Right type of player for his system. You can see the blueprint with Trott, a converted left back that's good with the ball at his feet, straight into the team despite a great performance from Turner. He wants a Centre half that can bring the ball out and play a bit the same with the left back. He wants the four new transfers to be starters and an improvement on what we already have.
We had a late start due to the delay in appointing, and he ripped up Delboy's recruitment list and started again, so there was always going to be a delay. Most will be Premier League loans which will come at the end of the window.

Front bench politicians answer!

Re: Is it right to say that you've not been backed by the board?
If he was informed about the transfer situation before he took the job then from his perspective the support he has received from the board has been 'constant' and he is hardly going to slag the board off. He mentioned that the transfer of some players is 'nuanced' (which apparently means: "subtle and having many small, but important, differences") so I assume that is a reference to loaning players at the end of the window when PL and Championship clubs have named their squads

Re: Is it right to say that you've not been backed by the board?
'Nuance' or 'nuanced' is one of those words that you hardly ever heard, but recently, it's being used everywhere. Usually by people who don't know what its means.

Interesting clip of pre-match interview with Rotherham coach:
https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/20...amond-partners
He talks about Cardiff and BBM (who he knows), the style, expectation of us being at the top of the league, and also of rumours about the kind of players he has heard we are trying to recruit. No names but it sounds ambitious!

Re: Is it right to say that you've not been backed by the board?
People are reading too much into this. I think he is telling the truth. He is waiting for the right players to come along which should be music to Cardiff City fans ears after the rubbish we have had to put up with the last few years.

That’s got me more excited about our transfer dealings than anything, meagre that it is, local social media has come up with in the last three and a half months!

Re: Is it right to say that you've not been backed by the board?
The meeting we had with BBM, back in July, he was insistent that he was after certain players, just waiting for premier teams to name their squads

I had to google the meaning and there was several explanations. Still not sure I really understand it. It seems it is one of those words which is used just to make you look more intelligent?

Im glad im not the only one to have noticed this. Nobody ever heard the word until about a year ago, now everything is nuanced. It’s every other word on the non football board too

Unless Nuance is a star player in Man City's under 23 team?

My word there’s some bitterness or moaning on here.
We’ve got 2 wins out of 3 and all our youngsters playing.
Jesus Christ I think some of you just like to whinge for the sake of it.

Wales Online now picked this up.

And Dale Tonge, assistant manager at the Millers, has said he has heard "rumblings" that the Bluebirds are after some stellar players in the market this summer.
Ahead of this weekend's trip to the Welsh capital, the Rotherham assistant said of Cardiff: "Listen, you'd expect them to be at the top end of the table.
"They are a big club, especially at this level.
"That's how they are trying to recruit. You hear it in the background, the rumblings, they've got some big players that they are potentially looking to sign.

What would constitute a 'stellar' player in League 1?

Can someone be called a converted left back when the last time they played in that position was when they were 14? :sherlock:

Oh yes.
You see that written on grave stones all the time!
Here lies Billy 'Gloves' Williams - born X, dies Y, devoted husband, father and converted left back
