BB-M comments after Burton defeat
“We’re all disappointed,” says Brian Barry-Murphy. “When you lose a game in that manner, it’s pretty sickening from a coach’s point of view.
“We created more chances than in any other game this season, but it doesn’t mean anything when you lose the game.
"The frustration among the players and staff is evident - we need to turn that dominance into results and move forward.
“We want to be really productive and efficient in possession, but we weren't clinical enough tonight.
“It’s very natural for the dressing room to feel disappointed but it’s a very young team that will encounter plenty of different situations throughout the season.
"While we’re frustrated tonight, we have to stay calm and keep improving our chances of winning games.”
Looking ahead to Saturday’s clash with Leyton Orient, Murphy emphasised that it’s an opportunity to bounce-back.
“I like the challenge of coming back here on Saturday. After the Bradford game, we went to Burnley and produced a performance of the highest level, then backed it up against Wigan.
“We’ve lost two games at home - that’s the reality - but now we have to show the fans that we can deliver a better performance than tonight.”

First time I’ve read his post match thoughts and thought he is incorrect. We didn’t create many good chances at all so not sure what he’s referring too. A few tame headers from Salech? Ashford should have scored but beyond that there wasn’t much.
Feels like he is trying to take the pressure off them as he could probably see it was a terrible performance. I’d hope that is it anyway

Sounds like what Coaching School teaches you to say in the wake of an unconscionable loss. It's like a script. They all say it.

What about all of the times when we got in down the wings and failed to pick out a blue shirt with our cross? What about the times when a promising position was lost because of poor technique and/or carelessness? What about all of the times we went for another pass when a shot was on? We had stacks of chances (chances aren’t things that only happen if you fail to score from a goal attempt) and, having been poor at converting opportunities for a few season’s now, there’s not been a great deal of evidence of an improvement so far this time around.
Re: BB-M comments after Burton defeat
I don't think anyone can complain that the team were excellent at getting the ball out and up the pitch.
But! you could almost see the question marks over their heads when they got to the box..what was the plan ..they had no idea.
It was like let's get it up there and see what happens.

The fact that everything you mention there ended with an error or a lack of a half decent attempt is the most worrying part
Re: BB-M comments after Burton defeat
We've been found out. If you sit behind the ball and let us have it, we've not got a cutting edge to break you down. We try and walk the ball into the net every time....there's rarely an effort from outside the box....you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
Re: BB-M comments after Burton defeat
BBM style is to take his passing game style right up to the six yard box where we'll convert a couple of simple tap-ins, aka Man City. Trouble is, we don't have the league 1 equivalent of a Doku or Grealish. Around the penalty box our players aren't good enough to perform the quick passing exchanges needed, and players like Ashford are not quick enough to beat an opponent. When the chances to arrive we're weak and ineffective. BBM is the antithesis to Warnock who recognised that what happens either end of the pitch is what matters. Maybe BBM just likes coaching youngsters to pass the ball at the expense of everything else..

Or with a style that has largely controlled most matches and has us on 2 points a game even with the massive disappointment of last night.
Cheer up.

Funnily enough, I was saying last night how even Warnock had struggled to break sides down at home. Just checked now and we failed to score in 20 out of 63 league and cup home games under him.
Higher level, of course, and BBM's 1 in 7 is only a small sample size but it'll be an interesting comparison to make as time goes on.

Found out? Are you saying that Burton planned to give us 78% possession, 8 corners, 8 attempts on goal to their 1 scrappy chance? We beat ourselves by not taking our chances and by not being direct enough. Yes, it was frustrating. But let's see what happens on Saturday.
