The optimist in me thinks it’s a bargain for anyone without a season ticket, a great chance to fill the stadium and a good cheap day out. Might even hook a few fans for next year.
The pessimist says the club think the game
will be a dead rubber

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
Another stellar move from the club. Half price tickets for the final home game of the season against a team 14 places higher, and when our fate might be sealed. And not for the 2 home games against our direct relegation rivals with it all to play for….

yeah, it's a bit daft.
now people who have to pick and choose their games will probably go to the west brom game instead of the other two
-
Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
Great idea, but it will all be done and dusted by then, and if we're down, there are probably a lot of season ticket holders who won't bother going down. Like an earlier poster said, they should be doing this for the last three games. Get a big crowd behind the team, and make a real push for safety. By the time of the West Bromwich, it'll be too late, one way or another.

Therefore a good idea to sell tickets now as demand may drop off considerably otherwise.

Maybe a win will keep us up?
Yes I doubt it too :hehe:

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
Why haven’t they bundled the 3 games as one purchase at 50% off

Because that would have made sense

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
Surely, the Oxford game is the time to do this?

Piss up in a brewery springs to mind.

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
Can't really see why the club are being criticised for this?

Because we will already be safe by then after winning the next 4 games?

Indeed. They are creating a demand where there may otherwise not be any.

They’re not being criticised for providing half price tickets. They’re being criticised because of the 3 home games we have left, the West Brom game is significantly less important to have a big crowd and a good atmosphere.
It’s one step forwards, one step back. People have been saying all season to have cheap tickets, kids for a quid, freebies to schools, etc and when the club finally does it, they fumble the execution.

Exactly, they should be doing it for Stoke and Oxford, typically, completely out of touch. I bet we are down by West Brom home anyway

Because the two home games before are vital to the season, we have to win them

True, but I doubt other clubs are reducing any tickets and.....
....I was about to say it may be our most important game of the season....
And then Preston score and yeah, maybe we will be down by then?!

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
We’ve got a right bunch of miserable c*nts on here 😂
-
Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
How can people not see this is a ridiculous game to pick by the club? We’ve got two absolutely huge games against teams near the bottom that will define our season (one on Easter Monday where you could tempt families down etc) and they’ve made the offer for a game where we will probably lose and potentially a dead rubber.
Common sense says to bundle all 3 games together for £30 odd and get 22k+ at all 3 games but we all know that common sense is lacking

Clearly most people can.

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
We are unbeaten in 4 now.
Could be unbeaten in 7 by time of the west from game.
Makes sense for the club to try and cash in on all the good feeling.

Two big home games next 2 weeks we need your support. Now is not the time for division, negativity and abuse. We need to be together and passionate.
Stoke and Oxford declined cheap ticket deals because they want our stadium empty.
They will fear a full passionate city stadium
Can an away team decide how much we charge for tickets? I know there’s reciprocal arrangements in cup games but I’ve never heard of this for league games.

We’re at a point where people would complain about anything.
I doubt very much our fate will be sealed either way by then

If we don't win those two games, it very much will be

I believe, if we offer our fans a discount, the same discount has to be applied to the away team .
Not 100% sure, but I think it’s been mentioned in the past

That's my thinking too. Theres every chance it is the key game of the season, arguably the most important game of the last 3-4 years snd we are being offered half price tickets.
🤷

Yes I’m aware of that. But surely we don’t have to ask their permission to lower our ticket prices.

Maybe Oxford have already sold their quota !

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
School holidays start Friday, we could really do with an offer to bring a mate for a tenner or something….

Not a thing I’ve heard of re. League games. That rule would mean things like ‘kids for a quid’, ‘season ticket holder bring a mate’ etc would all need approval from the visiting club. The rule that away teams had a percentage of the gate money is long gone. Just checked, according to EFL rules, there is no obligation to consult with the visiting club and a club can offer ‘local promotions’ on four occasions per season, when they can offer discounted prices. Has there been any other ‘local promotion’ games this season? I don’t know.

Couple of promotions on "pie and a pint for a £5" or whatever, but I'd like to think that didn't count!?

Seems hard to believe, why would any away team ever agree to disadvantaging themselves?
First time I’ve ever heard of this being a thing too.

I struggle to believe it too. I assume they can raise an objection to it and there's a gentleman's agreement that if that's done then the home club won't go ahead with it?

Re: Let's Fill the Stadium
This is more proof that we need to clear out the dead wood at the club.
