The optimist in me says that the delay is down to Ramsey insisting on things being done his way.

There's been such a change continuously that the bookies have no idea what's going on as the board have no idea.
It might be they don't think the board want the likes of Buckingham and Evatt and think we are targeting Jones and if he won't come or is too expensive we settle on Ramsey.
I think the market is shifting as they reflect the boards general cluelessness. Wouldn't suprise me if they are no closer than they were 45 days ago.

would much prefer Gary O,Neil to be our real number 1 target that we are waiting on and as for Ramsey would love to see Eric Ramsey involved in some capacity too !

Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
I don't thunk it will be Rambo. That's not what we need right now. I think even the clowns at City can figure that one out. Maybe Rambo as assistant?

Id love Gary O'Neil to be manager but just can't see it being a possibility.

Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
The board made a mistake in publicly setting this end of May deadline. It could be that the preferred candidates are now biding their time given better jobs are becoming available. I can see us giving it to Ramsey simply to save face on the deadline statement rather than wait for preferred candidates to make their decision. If I was a manager with any kind of reputation or ambition I wouldn’t be rushing to accept a potentially career damaging job at Cardiff.

Im pretty sure Buckingham or Evatt would have signed up already.

If they’d been offered a week ago then yes. But it seems Tan is taking his time to decide and since then the Plymouth job has become available and very soon the Bristol City job.

I really can't see Bristol City offering the job to either Buckingham or Evatt.
Plymouth maybe.

Yeah we aren't in the same pool as Bristol City now.
I saw Eric ramsey was going somewhere but can't remember where. Was a good club. West brom maybe?

I'd be encouraged by rambo being appointed mainly for this reason. I can't see him accepting the current set up at all. Lots of other names mentioned probably would just to get back in and we are the biggest club they will be linked to.
And like for ramseys 3 games he had ralls and gunter as well as rylan morgans. Quite big changes just for 3 games when we were pretty much down already. And ramasut disappeared back to the kids.
If rambo is announced it will be one of many announcements of a whole new structure. The delay could be linked to gunter or morgans and how their wales roles pan out with them full time with us. So the delay may not be anything to do with the manager but more their staff.

Ramsey was on holidays this week. Not sure when he gets / got back. I heard he had specific demands re the coaching set up. We'll see.

If it is Ramsey I hope he doesn't try and get the squad to 'play the Arsenal way'. Up and at 'em with pace is the answer.

Aye Arsenal are a really good example of a crap football team, heaven forbid we play the way they do:shrug:

Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
Cardiff City engaging an international sports agency to create a long list of candidates, putting together a task force including external appointees to whittle it down, the board interviewing candidates and giving their recommendations to the owner, then a month later giving the job to the interim manager?
That would never happen 🤷

Why is everyone sure Ramsey will be such a success

I don't think everyone is are they? Speaking for myself, I'd say that, if we have to go for another internal appointment, he'd be as good as anyone. I say that not because I'm convinced he'll be a great manager, more because I feel he is the candidate best placed to get Tan to make the changes to the way the club operates that are desperately required.

In all fairness a £20 bet placed will shift the odds considerably, it is not a busy market.

Well his track record on the pitch since his return has been pretty woeful. But we are not allowed to be critical of AR I have learned to my cost.
AR comes across as a thoroughly decent bloke, and a good ambassador for the club and Wales. I have never met him but he speaks well and in time could become a good manager.
He has a wonderful playing record for other clubs (notably Arsenal) but as he has only played around 40 games in total for Cardiff (in three spells) it is a bit strange he is classed as a Cardiff City legend.
Phil Dwyer, Peter Whittingham, Brian Clarke, could be classed as legends.
But the older I get the more I realise how little I know!

Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
Tan’s views on Ramsey over his time as a player can’t be too favourable. I’m sure that two years ago he’d never even heard of Aaron Ramsey but was persuaded to part with a large sum of money to be spent on wages with the intention of driving a promotion campaign. Here we are two years later with zero return on the initial investment and now in a division lower. And now the same individual is being proposed as the one to take us back up as a manger. If Tan holds any grudges then it may not be a relationship that is based on solid ground.

The important thing for me is he's been at big clubs and has first hand experience of how they are run. I also think if he's appointed it'll be on his terms.

If he picked based on evidence though then none of our caretaker managers would’ve been made permanent, and maybe we wouldn’t have been relegated

TLG has a point they are meaningless as its shifting all the time - probably a flutter of bets due to ITK rumours.
Bookies haven't a clue.
Do those running the club?

Seriously, it seems we've probably got another Bulutgate - job offered but candidate holding out for another, more agreeable offer.

Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
What odds were Bulut a couple of days before we announced him?
-
Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
24 hours later & Buckingham at 4/7 back as the favourite.

I've found these odds from the day before Bulut was announced:
Nathan Jones 5/2
Vitor Campelos 5/2
Sol Bamba 9/2
Oscar Garcia 5/1
Steve Morison 6/1
Steve Cotterill 8/1
Michael Duff 10/1
Alexander Blessin 14/1
Kevin Phillips 16/1
Bulut not to be seen.

I think Buckingham would be a great move personally, maybe with Rambo as assistant if he doesn't bring his own. He's young and hungry, has league one experience, plays good football, and has had success wherever he's been.

Re: New Odds On Manager Fav.
Sky have just said that the Cardiff hierarchy have realised they can't get Jones.
Followed it with Ramsey and Barry-Murphy in contention but Ramsey wants to keep playing and BM has reservations about being a No.1 in League 1.
Will we ever appoint anyone or is the nightmare of Purse/Ramasut taking pre-season developing into reality.

Sky are as full of shite as everyone else. Very few people know what’s going on, including our board, the rest is just speculation.
