Really struggled to get Rubin and Salech into the game first half, defensively we were at 6s and 7s a lot of the time. it's going to be really hard to be a centre half in this side as the full backs are pushed on so high, they're really isolated when we give the ball away.
Ashford was completely anonymous all game, Tanner really grew into it. Wintle was great in there, Rubin doesn't need any further plaudits but took the game by the scruff of the neck. We should have been out of sight. Promising signs, if this clicks, we could blow some sides away but on the other side, there's definitely a chance we get pumped playing like this!
I don't think Ashford was that bad, he showed some finesse on the ball and you could see his skill, it's just the ball found itself going up Tanner's side more often. If I had to nitpick, I'd say pnly Fish and honestly Salech had lower than average games today. Salech was very tightly marked in fairness though. and the penalty being given against Fish was a ref failing more than his.

I wouldn't have him in the side ahead of J Colwill.

Lawler didn’t play very well defensively, but he looked so much more comfortable on the ball.
Defensively I’m also expecting a clanger from Daland everytime, that was from his performances last season though…here’s hoping he comes good.
We certainly need another CB.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 PETERBOROUGH UTD. Match thread
The final minutes of both halves we looked so vulnerable, the two corners after their
pelanty had my heart in my mouth.
Robinson scores from that stone waller we go on to win 4 or 5-1. But, no, Robinson doesn’t bury it and it was a bit of panic stations. We won, yes, but I was just waiting for the equaliser when 8 went up, even more so when nigh on 10 was played. We need to be more ruthless, Tan may be right, shoot!!!

Wintle was fine on his loan. he went there as backup, and obviously they'd prefer to play their own players when available. when he came into the side he did a decent job

Yup, let's rewrite history, why not? Wintle's was a fine loan spell at Millwall, great success. He started just three games in eight months, but it went well all the same.
I'm amazed Millwall didn't make a bid to take him permanently under the circumstances.

He played 86 minutes in 2025, was an unused sub on 9 occasions and didn't make the squad in 3 games. Apart from that, he was outstanding for Millwall

Who cares about his loan at Millwall? It didn’t work out. So what. What’s that got to do with how well he played today?
Played some lovely diagonals out to the wing in the first half, shame Tanner wasted most of them.

That the sort of football manager mumbo jumbo that Brendan Rodgers would be proud of.

Why on earth are we being toxic about players who objectively played well? I'd understand if Wintle had a bad game, but he was excellent today.
And yes, Wintle was on loan because he fell out with Bulut over playstyle differences. Take the L on this one, Gunman. I say this as someone who finds Wintle wildly inconsistent.

He played really well today. I don't dispute that, let's hope he carries on. He was in the conversation for MOM

Played 1, won 1.
New manager with a starting 11 of 6 Welsh players, 7 academy graduates. A very unlike Cardiff young team and played some nice entertaining football at times and won the game.
I'm disappointed in how the 3 amigos have got us here, how they have largely neglected the running of the club but on reflection today was a good day. There is plenty there to build on.
Even thought second half we got stuck in and showed some grit to see out the win when certainly last season that wouldn't have happened.
Lot of positives to take. This season was never going to be HMS piss the league.

At the end of the game, both Rubin and Joel went around the pitch carrying a shirt in honour of Brent Davis.
Brent had been working at Cardiff City for many years and was a very popular figure around Cardiff City Stadium, and Rubin dedicated today’s win to Brent and his family.
“Brent is a special man. He was always there, always a warm presence and was always kind to everybody.
"We got the shirt today and that win was for Brent and his family. It was his funeral yesterday, and may he forever rest in peace.”

That was something separate, but still cool. I saw it being spread on some other places it was for a lad who took his own life called Cai Davies.

Ah, apologies. I can see from the quotes the t shirt was for an older person. Yes, I'd read somewhere there would be a tribute to a young man. A touching response from fans who made themselves heard on 18 mins.
