We appointed McCarthy permanently based on his results after 10 games.
Just over 20 games later he was sacked.
If we accept this season was a restart it’s a small window to be so certain how things would have panned out.

xG is the biggest pile of cobblers to ever be seen. We don't shoot, we don't create chances, it is undeniable. We are dead last or nearly last in every shooting metric. Just because we've scored some tap ins it doesn't mean we create anything. We haven't scored in 6 of 11 games. It is not good enough.
So early season it was said .....by plenty on here ......we looked a useful side and with a few additions could challenge ?
So , are all our players crap then ?
Over to the experts
We have pretty low xG as well, it has its limitations but it can be a very useful metric. These numbers show we have really good xGA (goals against) and mid tableish xG (goals for), but they only consider from open play. We have to factor into that goals for and against from set pieces - where presumably in both measures we are really bad.
Perhaps we should be bringing in a specific set-piece coach as well as a new manager.
Rino's been ok, and big things were expected from Adams before his injury.
Not sure why we re-signed Ojo mind, he was inconsistent first time round, although we are operating on a budget...
I don't think his signings have been too bad for the most part, I do think he's not plugged glaring holes though.
Centre-back and centre-forward were the two obvious positions that we desperately needed to strengthen after we bolstered the centre of midfield.
He just seemed to add more midfielders though...
Then of course, when we did add two forwards, we ended up with Etete and Robinson. The latter may come good but he's not the physical presence that Morison's system was crying out for. The former of course, a "project" that we could ill afford to spend money on.
To give Morison his dues, I think we largely did ok with a decent percentage of his signings, but he signed far too many players. We needed less quantity and more quality.
Very few managers can get away with bringing in so many new faces in a pre-season, it's always going to cause more chaos than is manageable.
He bit off more than he could chew.
I doubt anyone has suggested their an expert, however it's about opinions and facts.
If we accept that most of our recruitment are good signings, then that begs the question why are we not performing?
If it isn't the players, then it has to be the tactics and coaching?
It isn't worth it but if I was pushed, Philogene is garbage and Sawyers has been a major disappointment so far. Nkounkou isn't very good defensively to say the least. I think the rest are either unproven, have played a handful of games, or we haven't seen enough of them. I think that leaves Rinomhota who is alright and Ojo is OK as a squad player.
Players not happy, allegedly.

I hope it isn't Hudson, I really think a more experienced manager is needed, but if it is Hudson it will interesting to see if he was part of the problem or going to be part of the solution?
He might have a different approach to the way we set up and play up top
If they do appoint Hudson (which I think they will), and if he has been effectively running the training sessions as has been alluded to, then nothing will change.
Also if they think that bringing in Sol Bamba will be met with a glowing endorsement from the fans, then I think they're in for a shock.
It all points to him leaving due to a specific incident on Saturday and a board who haven't got a fkng clue.
Sol Bamba should be brought in, whatever role it may be we need somebody to get the players back on side
This is exactly what will happen as we have no money.
I was OK with Morison being given a chance last time (after I got over the initial underwhelming inevitability of it all) but he wasn't even given that, in the end.
So promote Hudson, and repeat the cycle - depressing. :frown:
Despite the obvious lack of goals under Morison this season, I have found watching the team play to be much more interesting than for many a year - including Warnock.
At least I didn’t find myself looking at the clock, just waiting for it to be over!

Said on Talksport Jody Morris interested, and a foreign coach whos name i didn't recognise.
