Emily pankhurst got votes for women after throwing herself under a horse , that was a worthy protest I think
And of course when the racist far right english defence league came to cardiff loads of people marched against them and they havnt been seen since
As for government spending taxation is going to have to rise now more than ever before or we will have riots far bigger than those associated with political protests
If the tories dont do it then more fool them
Emily Pankhurst never threw herself under anything.

When it’s safe to do so, I will certainly be marching and protesting for Black Lives regardless of whatever vehicle is driving it.
No nothing to do with anti fascist action
TUC were prominent as were a lot of community groups

But Sludge is referring to Emily Davison - and although her death wasn't the main event behind women getting the vote (although the film Suffragette implied it) it was a significant milestone. Direct action is often what provokes change when the talking is going nowhere!

No I wont be marching against tax rises as we will need them . That's the point . The people who will be pissed off with the tax rises will be the rich .

You are a self made man , well done
But some people face prejudice and discrimination trying to get where you are and need to rely on government to help them out

Indeed the burnley captain was appalled at how his club was being dragged through the mud by right wing lump heads yet we have white cardiff city fans saying there was nothing wrong with the banner

Agree with your general line on racism, but you're on thinner ice re the Suffragettes. Had you and the internet been around at that time you'd have been telling us if Emily was 'a sort' or not.

Nothing wrong with helping those who need it - children who look after their disabled parents for example. There was a programme on Radio 4 about 5yrs ago - these kids were having their ONE day to their own at a woodland retreat in Wales. You should have heard them. They were absolutely thrilled to bits. I'd help people like that every day of the week..

Yes you have told me that but fail to answer my response which asked which government of any persuasion anywhere has afforded to pay for the Utopian Society you believe is possible. At least we agree on the fact taxes will have to rise to pay for the COVID-19 episode but sadly that will not provide for the distribution of wealth you require. You have to be realistic and not idealistic.
-
Re: Aeroplane Over The Etihad
Of course tax's will rise, then it will be " the Tories, always putting up taxes to punish the poor "
yet the same tories have handed out that money ( that they will need to claw back ) to help us all
the tory money tree isnt as good at labours
damned if they do damned if they don't

What about people who face racial discrimination to get into management positions in the workplace
I mean we so often hear people say we want the best person for the job but that is clearly often not true
I have worked in welfare and housing in inner city oxford , bradford and cardiff. Most of the people coming in for advice and support were from the ethnic minorities.
Very few of the staff were from the ethnic minorities and I cant remember one senior member of staff or management of colour in all the years I worked
Some people , those carers you talked of , disabled people and others need a helping hand

We will get a better distribution of wealth under a socialist liberal government than we will get under a conservative wealth

And that redistribution of wealth will make everyone poorer and the people able to make thecountry richer will flee the country.

How do you know he was referring to Emily Davidson? I doubt he actually knew her name until you posted it.
But he clearly was so intent on making his point that he didn't even stop to consider the point of what I said, (Although I agree it was fatuous) He was using Pankhurst wrongly to support his argument.
Emily Pankhurst never existed. (Or at least not in the realm of the suffragettes.)

Hopefully the burden will fall on those who used it more than those of us who haven't. I'd feel personally aggrieved having lost 40% of my wages (whilst still working), to find I have to then pay more taxes to subsidise people that I know have blankly refused to work, and self employed people who have worked and taken the cash handout.

That's according to libertarian economics

Who gives a toss whether you agree with it or not? your disagreement won't stop it happening. I'd love to know what magic formula you have to redistribute the wealth of the nation and make everyone richer. It must be a blinder. People will pay you a fortune for it.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but in your case it is the only form of wit.

I cannot answer that because I have no idea what a Gammon or the Gammon is/are supposed to be, and i have no inclination what so ever to look it up. I hope that won't change my life. It does seriously not bother me one iota! :-)

You do realise it is possible to redistribute wealth and create a better society without stripping the top earners dry and turning them into beggars ?
Loads of people dont agree with capitalist economic theory wether you care a toss or not

Here's a shocker:
Cambridge University backs academic who tweeted 'White Lives Don't Matter' - and promotes her to professor
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html
I know it's the Daily Mail but presume it's true or Twitter wouldn't have deleted it.

The Burnley fan who organised it has been banned for life by the club...
and has been sacked from his job
