Why does the heatwave of 1976 keep getting brought up? Why not the heatwave of 2003 that killed 15,000 in France alone?
Should they not mention climate change even though there’s almost a 0% chance that it isn’t the cause of this heatwave?
200,000 British people died due to covid so far according to the ONS, which bit of coverage was overblown?
In summary, what point are you even trying to make?
Mate, the Daily Mail is all over it. If you read it, you would know. If you want videos of burning buildings, thats where you'll find it.

Back to my point. And I don't want to labour this but based on the last couple of responses. I will ask again. Are paragraphs one of the early victims of climate change?

This is the hottest I can remember , I have had 3 showers today , will need another two
I am drenched and can't cope in temperatures like this . It must be very bad for those in care homes etc
I can't wait till October, I hate this sort of heat
Anyone thinking that it's normal for a city like Sheffield to be hotter than most of the carribean needs to visit their GP

Met Office Cowbridge forecast for the next week shows a maximum high of 23c. Our Sludge will be back to his old ways soon enough I reckon.
That means he will be loitering at Castell Coch's car park blowing kisses towards every Tongwynlais dogger who shows up.

I haven’t been posting much because this place a depressing dive full of people like you.
I don’t give a shit about Jimmy either you weirdo, **** me do you keep a diary about what’s going on on here :hehe:
PM me your phone number if you fancy a chat that much, happy to sort any differences out since you seem to have nothing better to do.

Re: England’s first ever red warning for extreme heat on Monday and Tuesday.
So how's everyone coping? Sleeping OK? Are any of your elderly relatives dead yet? Or was it just a big overreaction? I mean 40C is just 10 more than 30C right? If the government hadn't made such a fuss about it I bet no one would have even noticed.

Loads of fires particularly on the Eastern side of the country with people losing their homes, and my daughter has had more seizures over the last few days triggered by the heat.
How was it for you?

As rudy says above, I'm not sure you grasp what peer reviewed means.
"It's not 99% of scientists but 99% of those funded to do peer reviewed papers. "
Nobody is funded to do a peer reviewed paper. Research is funded, and then if it is to be published in a respected journal, it is peer reviewed.
Your argument is like saying "sure, Usain Bolt has the fastest 100m times, but that's because you're only including the times in official meets with electronic timing. How about all the races done by one person visually with a hand stopwatch?"
I'm sure peer reviews are not perfect, but we're talking about thousands of studies all around the world where they have almost all come to the same conclusion. It's as indisputable as you can get, it'd be impossible to fraudulently get all those studies on this scale without any evidence of the fraud coming out.
Al Gore deeply embedded pro climte change alarmists within the government beaurocracy that funded research. He sacked scientists who disagreed with his climate alarmism. You asked me to say who is funding research and i did. You then ignored that and went on to peer review nonesense. You're a waste of time lardy. Forget peer review, climate science is very exspensive to research. As with a lot of research The truth belongs to those who fund the studies. With that in mind Your faith in the "science" is very naive and silly.
Trump couldn't remove all Al Gore’s "work" in one term. Plus, current research is built on previous research. If the previous research is skewed the current research is likely to be skewed.

I'm sorry if I sound callous. That was not my intention. I recognise the severity of the situation. My post was a reaction to those who didn't like being warned by the government that it was going to be hot, and thought it was an overreaction to just a bit of heat.

By tomorrow the temperatures will be back around normal for the time of year and in the last two weeks there have only been two other days when temperatures went over 30 degrees. Prior to that it rained for about the previous two weeks and temperatures were below average. I am very concerned about climate change but this is not about that, it is about the way that we are being force fed deliberately over the top forecasts purely so that the different outlets can get one up on their competitors and so that the many so called ‘experts’ can try to justify their jobs and huge salaries. They did the same with aspects of the Covid pandemic and no doubt will move on to something else when summer is over and we are all wet and freezing. A heatwave is what happened in 1976 but then the population just got on with their lives and news reporters just concentrated on giving the facts, rather than embellishing and fabricating them as they do now.
See anything catastrophic on the news tonight?

It's just attention-seeking. I think they create multi accounts so they can reply to themselves and extend the thread. And so they can spout utter nonsense just to wind people up.

In all fairness his attendance wouldn't have changed a thing. There are COBRA meetings all the time and they are normally chaired by the minister responsible for whatever the meeting is about. How you think the attendance of a PM that for the last 6 months everyone has been calling useless would have altered the situation I don't know. But I'd be happy for someone to tell me.
As a point of fact the great emphasis on COBRA as if it is something really really important was invented by the media.
COBRA actually stands for Cabinet Office Briefing Room A, as opposed to COBRB or COBRC. It's just another meeting room.
That is not to detract form the acceptance that meeting taking place there are very often very very important.
This is not a defence of BJ but as the Labour Party and the remoaners in his own party have inflicted the damage on him they have been attempting constantly for 2 years, couldn't we please move on and pick on someone else, Maybe Krankie or Starmer, anyone new really?

All attention is good attention, but you double or treble that attention with 2 or 3 multi and its. winner, even when people are thinking " what a knob " its still attention, but when they dont get that attention, they get more desperate for some and wildly attempt to lure people in

This is always my opinion, when 1 account isnt enough attention they have to use 2, you can spot the Multi's a mile off, they start by using a completely different persona but then slip into the old ways, I always feel a little for them, they obviously have something lacking in the " real world " so need more attention online, Ive joked in the past " it saves them being in town shouting random things at strangers and scaring old folk "

The point was really the video of the fire not the COBRA meeting as I think should be pretty clear by how I introduced the post. Let’s not deflect, I’ve heard all the tried-and-tested explanations for Johnson skipping COBRA meetings before.
