What a shock eh? Who could possibly turn down such an opportunity to work for Vincent Tan…..odd

Warnock made some very good free signings in the summer of 2017, but, surely, one lesson Tan should have learned by now is that City don’t tend to prosper when we try to cut corners financially.
Did "they" let it be leaked about the 5mil for jones though?
Who is "they"?

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
I don't get the mexican link for Ramsey, wasn't part of the stated lure of coming back to Cardiff was that he could be closer to his young family. Or were they not even living here? I maybe misremembering.
I'd imagine he could get a playing contract somewhere closer than Mexico. Would that distance be good for any WC prep. I know Bale did it but it didn't make a lot of sense other than the lifestyle.
Maybe he just really likes the food.

It's where the next world cup is. I imagine he'll mention that in his press conference.

He wants to play, he won’t get an offer in Europe and we’ve messed it up so badly he’s decided if he’s not going to manage us, he’ll have a proper crack at the World Cup.
Choo, Dalman and Tan are a joke. We have to get them out.
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
So does this leave the manager search at the stage of going back to someone else on the shortlist and saying "you weren't first choice, or even second choice, but will you manage us please?"
Shambolic doesn't even begin to cover it.

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
BBC and WalesOnline reporting Ramsey to Mexico too

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Unless they pull something big out of the hat this is looking like their biggest feck up to date. What a start to the summer!!!
The fans groups need to come together not the shambolic Judean People's Front type of groups we have now.

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Can’t wait to hear how dalman explains what has happened this summer - assuming he’s going to bother!
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
I'd call the likes of Tann and his two cronies a lot worse than a joke.
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Remember when Tan said how can you imagine that we don’t have a plan? The only plan is the one that’s been in place for years - Vincent knows best or he thinks he does at least.

I think the rest of that line was something like "our plan is to get to the premier league"
Yea that's not a plan Vincent, it's a goal, a dream even.
It annoys me when people say I don't have a plan, my plan is to have a threesome with Margot Robbie and Ana de Armas. People think I'm stupid or something.

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
I think this manager cock up is worse in many ways than the red shirt fiasco.
We've been without a manager for getting on 2 months, at a time when deals need to be done for the new season.
It would have been far better for everyone's sanity if somebody like Buckingham had been appointed at the start.
All this messing about with Jones and Ramsey has made the club look an even bigger laughing stock than it was before.
As thing stand I cannot see us making a serious attempt at promotion and I feel sorry for the 10k fans who have already invested their hard earned money in this shit show.
Rant over.
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
What the hell is even going on anymore?
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
The board going back to all the managers theyd rejected is basically like Mark Corrigan asking Geoff whether he could actually have a copy of his project Zeuss presentation 5 hours after his told him it was compete and utter $hit.

Also just remembered where the world cup is.
Looks like it's happening anyway.
I am rarely surprised by our incompetence with these decisions but this manager search has done. Usually we're able to get our latest **** up in place by now.

I wouldn't want to be at a club like this if I was a player either personally. If any of our players were sitting on the fence about staying after relegation, the last 6 weeks could well have made their minds up.

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Be interesting to see the PR after this... Or I suspect there won't be any in keeping with current times.
They knew what AR wanted from day one. If they weren't going to give him that why are we f*cking around nearly 2 months later.
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Dalman says its BBM or Buckingham now.
Well abondonato just tweeted it so probably via dalman.
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
In fairness Ramsey wanted to play and it would have been ridiculous to pay him manager's wages on the amount he earns as a player The Board have clearly messed up about the managerial appointment but they can hardly be blamed for Ramsey wanting to play and rejecting the chance to be manager. Surely it would be an even greater foul up to appoint Ramsey as manager on his current wages. He didn't want the job end of.

I always had reservations about Ramsey because of his desire to play onto the World Cup. I could not see how City could accommodate him. Either as a player manager or player.
A total shambles by the club who should have sorted this week's ago.
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Ramsey to Mexico means the end of any hopes of the club appointing anyone who knows about football running the club. So we’ll continue with a part-time car salesman in London as Chief Executive, a merchant banker in Monaco as Chairman and a businessman in Malaysia as owner and it would seem acting Director of Football.
Next week is the halfway point between sacking Riza and the start of the new season yet these clowns still have no idea how to set about recruiting a serious candidate.
No doubt we will eventually hire someone completely uninspiring on the cheap and we can look forward to our club continuing its spiralling descent under Vincent Tan.

yeah if Ramsey expected to keep his current wage as a novice league one manager then I can see where the disconnect would be.

The problem I have with that is that it presupposes that seven weeks ago, Ramsey accepted an offer to take over as interim manager and were expected to believe that for six weeks there was no talk between the sides about wages until last weekend when, it seems, Choo met Ramsey’s representatives, made an offer that was much lower than expected and the gap between the sides was so large that there was no way a deal could be done. That seems laughable to me, or it should do, but, with City, they have this habit of always being caught on the hop by events that most people can see coming a mile off (how long before our eventual relegation was it that they were being told things were heading that way? Three years? Four years?).
It’s now being spun that the job is Buckingham’s or Barry Murphy’s, but is it really? Both men have effectively been turned down twice for the City manager’s job and may say thanks, but no thanks which will be the cue for the hierarchy to be caught on the hop again while no doubt wondering why these things always seem to happen to them.

If City offered the job to Ramsey whilst I have no concrete proof of anything, I'd be surprised if it was anything other than generous, given his practically zero experience of managing a football club. Ramsey seems to be someone who has a higher opinion of his playing ability thnt is the case, and no doubt Bellamy is going to have to break it to him - or do a Page and let his ego onto the pitch. Would he have given up the chance of one final tournament with Wales, even as a squad member, to manage a league 1 side ? I'm not sure about that. For me, if he was even considered for the job, it was the wrong road for the club to go down..

It may be about money - in Cardiff or in Mexico - but I doubt it. If Ramsey was driven by money at the end of his career he would have chased the big pay day 2 years ago.
This whole sorry saga of inertia, indecision, delusion and almost total lack of communication is symptomatic of the Dead Hand of Tan.
We have no leadership, direction or plan (in the boardroom or in the squad). It is a farce. The few examples of real achievement and positivity in the club are drowned out by the embarrassing failures elsewhere.
Nathan Jones and his agent have played this situation perfectly (for them).
Aaron Ramsey may have correctly diagnosed the problems with the club that needed to be solved if he was going to manage, but despite the Kortrijk DoF structure it seems Tan is not convinced or will not be bounced and thinks doing the same thing again will produce a different outcome. That is delusional. So too I expect is Ramsey's decision (if confirmed) to carry on playing to have one last hurrah with Wales. That would be true anywhere - but to jump to Mexico (after all the homeboy schtick he came out with) moreso!
Who knows which candidates are left standing. Abbandonato may be right it is between Buckingham and Barry Murphy. How many boxes do either of them tick? Working with Academy prospects, introducing a culture of competing every minute, developing leaders across the pitch and changing room, developing a style of play that will be effective in League One....
And who do they bring with them in a complete revamp of the coaching team, even if there are no changes above or in the boardroom?
I am underwhelmed and bored, but at least that list of two doesn't (yet) include Evatt or Critchley (small mercies).

I dont want Evatt but id have him over Buckingham. At least he was a professional footballer.

It wouldn't have been about money to Ramsey. Ramsey wanted Tan to get an experienced assistant, beef up the recruitment, coaching and medical teams etc and Tan told him where to go.
