I agree with this. If its possible reopen Aberthaw temporarily or frack more, whatever it takes to get us off of Russian energy. Once we've we've that start building more nuclear/renewables.

We have vast amounts of peat in the uk.
I was telling someone about ten years ago that using peat for heating etc would one day make a comeback.:sherlock:

It's a good idea if you can get somebody to do free energy, but generally those involved in the energy sector are interested in big profits, and they go to war in pursuit of them.

When training on the Beacons about ten years ago we had to cross a vast area of peat and i thought then that this once natual resorce will make a comeback in the future.
I was told theres huge amounts of peat in the uk and coal so maybe its uses should be encouraged

Just had a BBC breaking news alert through my phone saying over 1.5 million have fled Ukraine as refugees making it out to be an astonishing number. (Which it is)

To me it’s more astonishing that if figures are correct 97% of the population have remained.

Does this mean a prolonged and bigger war is likely? 42m Ukrainians fighting isn’t no small obstacle.

Tempt Russia into a war that it can’t really win in a huge territory against a relatively strong military backed by a stream of weapons from the West. The West has thrown Ukraine under the bus, knowing this war could bog both countries down for years. But they number less than 2% of the Ukranian army. They are part of the story, but a small part.
