Lots in the valleys don't like being told what to do.

I see Nicola Sturgeon has said that the lockdown in Scotland that started on monday has already resulted in the R number going down to 1.
It must be a miracle, it normally takes 3 weeks to find out that. Next she'll be telling us if they had independence it would go down even further overnight!!
"Cautious optimism' over spread of virus in Scotland
People in Scotland have been living under tough restrictions since Monday and it has started to have an effect on the spread of the virus, according to Nicola Sturgeon. The first minister said the "R number" metric - showing on average how many people each patient with the virus will infect - had dropped to about one. A five-tier system was brought in across the country earlier this week, which saw restrictions on household mixing and hospitality. Ms Sturgeon said she still could not rule out a full lockdown, but Scotland was in a "better position" than England."
Apologies if my comment seemed a bit odd. Using the daily positive test total as a scare may have been the wrong way of expressing some scepticism of how the numbers are delivered. The graphs and projections by whitty and valance seemed to me to be political numbering to attempt to justify rather than factual. The more concise and common sense figures from the NHS bloke tonight gave a better understanding.
I hope Mr and Mrs Elwood keep safe. As someone myself who has personal reasons to be wary and as a person with a responsibility for a vulnerable adult I am not stupid when it comes to following guidelines and acting sensibly.
There are so many inconsistencies and contradictions that it's no wonder that people ignore what's recommended and there's never going to be any rules put in place that some elements in society will follow. They go by their own rules whatever anyone says.
I'd also say that although there are terraced streets like the one I now live on in Cardiff, there are far more of them up here - people tend to live much closer to each other up here and I believe this makes it easier for the virus to spread, it cannot be a coincidence that the virus has been most prevalent in the poorest areas this autumn.
Did I just hear that the virus has evolved into a different strain in Sweden, and jumped from animals to humans on a mink farm.
The vaccine that is going to save the world may just have become outmoded......:frown:
Err.... it was Denmark, not Sweden. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54835538
"Absolutely no way we could have been infected at that place, yet if someone who went there within 14 days either side of when we went, gets symptoms, [almost certainly contracted from somewhere else], we will get a phone call instructing us both to stay indoors for 2 weeks and get people to drop of food etc."
That claim. It's bollocks.
Additionally the average age in most valleys towns is significantly higher than in Cardiff, not including places like treforest.
It amazes me how dull people are about mask wearing. I think half of them honestly believe it is to stop someone else giving it to them. Pull up at a traffic light and the person next to you in their car all alone is wearing a mask, with all the windows up . What do they honestly think they're achieving? I was up the valleys the other day and saw a woman walking her dog. There wasn't another soul, or even a house within half a mile of her but she was wearing a mask. And you see that time after time.
I understand better safe than sorry but shirley they know someone who can put them tight?
If you scan into a place like I scan into my local the app keeps a record and if someone then reports a positive test and their app shows they have been in my local then the app tells me someone has been in the same place as me within the time frame (48 hrs) but it doesn't require any action. It only requires action if the positive testing person, when contacted says, "I sat int he pub with Xsnaggle for half an hour yesterday" and if that happens I will receive a phone call telling me what to do.
Another farce which only makes it harder for the public to have faith in "the science".
A chart shown on Saturday's Prime Ministerial briefing which claimed there could be 1,500 deaths a day next month, has now been downgraded to a 1,000 a day - still bad, but how can you have any faith in the new figure?

The people not listening could find themselves in lockdown for months.....

Contact details are taken as a person who has tested positive will be asked by contact tracers who they have recently been in contact with and where they have been. Recent is the 2 days before getting symptoms onwards.
If they say they were in that cafe and at a time they were at risk of passing it on the cafe will have your details. You can then be contacted if you were in close contact of that person.
Your post sorry was completely inaccurate.
No it's not. If someone tests positive they're asked for all their contacts - including work, restaurants bars etc., where they have been when they became infected. That can be anytime up to 14 days before the test proved they had Covid19.[ the person may have had symptoms for up to 14 days prior] If they visited the cafe in question during that period, NHS track and trace contacts all those tel numbers of people who have been to the cafe during that period, and are then instructed to self isolate for 14 days. That's what it says on the Govt. webpages - it's not an opinion, it's a fact..

Educate yourself before spreading any more misinformation. The track and trace system is designed to limit outbreaks of the virus, not close the bloody country.

Someone you have been in close proximity during a period beginning up to 2 days before they developed symptoms.
Yes it can take 14 days to develop symptomsm. But its the contacts 2 days before not 14 - I believe ive read thats because they think you can become infectious 2 days before - not 14.
In short if someone youve been in close contact with develops symptoms within 2 days of you being in contact with them you isolate. If not your ok.
