Besides all of the defeats for City sides, it was a miserable weekend for the local teams I follow on the blog, Treherbert Boys and Girls Club lost 6-0 at Cardiff Draconians and Ton Pentre, who lose every week I'm afraid, were beaten 3-0 by Pencoed - the most successfult of the local sides was Treorchy Boys and Girls Club who didn't have a game, so I can only hope that City's women's side have a free weekend as well.Quote:

There's a forum, and a twitter feed of course, but not only is there a language issue to deal with but what are we going to make of comments and stats relating to Tsunoda, however positive they are? He played every game last season until his injury and Isaak Davies said he was brilliant. He went straight in this season, even though he'd hardly played here, so different managers obviously have the same respect for him. He played in a back 3/5 last season but it seems to be a 4 this season so he's flexible too. Does that mean he'd be a regular here next season or would we be sending him to Exeter on loan? Can Tsunoda be that good if a side that defends as badly as we do are prepared to loan him out? To be fair to him, I suppose we should really reserve judgment on him until he.s had a full pre season here.
I guess he was sent out on loan again mainly because of the fitness situation rather than anything else, but perhaps the club's management also believe the defenders we've already got are better than they actually are. Take Goutas, for example. I like him, I've always admired his effort and commitment, but let's face it - he's not that great by Championship standards. Nevertheless, it sounds like the club has offered him a new contract.Quote:

We let in seventy goals in the CVhampionship last season. Eric will be able to tell us if that is the most we've let in at this level since promotion in 2003, but I suspect it is and we're on track to llet in more this season. Although I think you have to give the likes of Daland, Fish and Bagan (who I think can become a better centreback than full back) more time in the hope that they develop into the players we think theu can be, I reckon we need a Kevin Ratcliffe, Tony Vidmar type figure to act as an influencer and organiser - I don't think Goutas can perform that function for us.
Another win for Kortrijk tonight, 2-1 away at Gent, which puts them 5 points off safety as they enter the six game relegation play offs. Another 90 minutes for Ryotaro Tsunoda too, he made 14 accurate passes and 2 tackles in the game. Don't knock it, that would've been a good season for Nathan Wigg back in the day.
90 minutes for Eli King too as Stevenage got a well earned 1-1 draw at Reading. Eli started in the week too but this was his first full league game since September. Hardly surprising that the local paper said he looked knackered at the end, they gave him their man of the match rating though and were impressed with his all round game.
A rare 79 minutes for Joel Colwill as Exeter drew 1-1 at Rotherham but no action for Jake Dennis, Ryan Wintle or Kieron Evans and no squad places for Kion Etete, Michael Reindorf, Joe Thomas or Baylin Johnson.

Do we treat these accolades at face value or is there still a conspiracy of friends and relatives (as suggested during his Ross County days) on speed dial voting to make Eli sound like a clone of Claud Makelele - and our 2025-6 saviour?
I really hope this is the real picture. Whenever I have seen Eli King play he has impressed me (although I may have missed his off days) and i want him to come back next year and be an upgrade on Calum Chambers).
Definitely seems genuine. If one of Eli's family or friends has gone to the trouble of getting a job on Stevenage's local paper just to give him 7.5 but say he needs to get forward more then they probably need to re-evaluate their life choices.Quote:

That would be an odd one, he's never lacked any energy for us when he's made a cameo. You do read every so often about a loanee who drops down a division or two and gives it the big one or feels he's too good for that level, I'd hope that's not the case.
I wonder if he lacks energy what one might report about Kanga's time here?

As BoA says, the 'lacking energy' was how Calderon described Rovers' performance at Lincoln. That threw me because they'd had two tough games already that week so he should've been expecting a drop off and if he wanted some fresh legs in the team then Reindorf would've seemed an obvious choice. Unless I’ve missed something, not one of our players has been an outstanding success whilst on loan, although King does seem to be receiving more plaudits now.

I guess it means they might mature quicker if they are away from their home environment, but looking at the situation with Reindorf, could it be as simple that the Rovers coach is desperate for points and only trusting more experienced players in that position?
Because if that’s the case, then there is really nothing to be gained from sending players out there
If the coaching staff were any better, then surely they would be working further up the football pyramid?
I know players develop at different times, or maybe some of the players have been overhyped and are just not good enough?
Or is it just as simple as any game time in senior football is better than U21 league?

For the senior u-21s it's a definite yes to your last question. Take King and Colwill. The club gives them contracts because they see potential in them but don't feel they're ready for a season in the Championship so send them on loan. They've both struggled to establish themselves in League 1, which surely shows the club were right to think they weren't Championship ready, but I'd expect both to come back better for the experience. Reindorf is slightly different, maybe League 2 would've been a better choice, but there's still time for him at Rovers. They're down to one striker now, Chris Martin, as two others are injured and another has been called up by Cyprus. Even the 17-year-old who got a run out on Saturday is missing as he's with Wales u-17s so it looks like Calderon will have to swallow his pride and call Reindorf into the squad, especially as it's a big game for them. I'm getting the impression that Reindorf won't be running to the touchline and jumping into Calderon's arms if he scores but we'll see.

It's possible that he'll have Robinson, Salech, Etete, Simic (although I think the likelihood is that he'll be out on loan somewhere) and, possibly, Pearce in front of him in the queue for a first team striker's place and I suppose there's the possibility that Meite might be offered a new deal as well if he can finish the season in some sort of goalscoring form - if I had to guess now, I'd say Reindorf is likely to be spending next year on a season long loan to a League Two club.
