Went down for the first half tonight. Way better than Watford but struggled to create many chances whereas Watford wasted a number of good positions when they counter-attacked. We had quite a few changes so I guess it was understandable that it took a while to go through the gears but it seemed comfortable enough in the end from what I saw of the stream in the second half.
I must've seen Troy Perrett play before but I don't remember it. I know the size thing doesn't bother you but he's filled out more than a number of the other lads and looked the part tonight. A beautiful bit of skill to get himself out of trouble in the first half, he should teach that to Fraser Forster.
Perrett's had a Joe Ledley type summer where he seems to have shot up two or three inches and I think I'm right in saying he's still eligible for our under 18s so he's got the potential for plenty more growing yet. He's always been one of that group of gifted attacking midfielders we have coming through and I think the fact that he made the first Wales Euros under 17 squad while still eligible to play in the one the following year shows that he is rated highly on the international front.
That was a great bit of skill which I guess will find it's way on to what I'm always going to call Twitter and/or You Tube sometime in the next few days. It was a moment when I'd say anyone who saw it would have found it very hard to not have any reaction to it - I certainly did!
Around what minute would that Perrett moment have been? I'll have a look on the stream.
It was between the 30 and 40 minute mark I’d guess, Perrett broke up a Watford attack in his own penalty area and then beat two opponents, you’ll know you’ve seen it when you see it :xmashehe:
The Perrett bit of skill is around the 28 minute mark in this video.

I watched the Monday game and thought that Tsunoda looked a good player at left back. The whole structure of the team looked very well coached. As for the Thursday game Perrett was again outstanding and very assured. I had been told that Barton was a bit of a prima donna but he was excellent and put in a really good shift . All round all the players were excellent and showed a desire and commitment sometimes lacking in the first team. I am sure that quite a few of these boys will make a living out of football. The problem now is that some of these lads at 18 and under are liable to be poached by Premier clubs.
I would not be surprised if Mannie Barton is not voted the Young Player of the Year, he certainly knows where the net is as shown in the last few matches at 17 years old; he is a great prospect.
I agree with you regarding Tsunoda he was excellent in that game he had so much time on the ball and never seemed to be in a hurry, I would not be surprised if he was included in the squad tomorrow if he is fit enough.
Surprised to see Perrett on the bench for the 1st team ahead of Twose. Not that I don't think that Perrett will end up a 1st team player - he is a huge talent. However, so is Twose and has probably been the U21's best player this year. I can only presume that they believe that Perrett is#, physically, more ready for 1st team action.
Also, I can't help thinking that Colwill jnr would have played a notable 1st team squad role this season if he hadn't been out on loan.
I made the point about Perrett's build on Thursday, I'm sure I must've seen him play before but I didn't recognise him if I had. I know it's not the be all and end all but a few of the other lads could do with a growth spurt like Troy's had, he looked the part on Thursday night. I was hoping Riza was going to make a hero call and bring Perrett on if Robertson had to go off early in the second half today. It was great to see Kpakio get on, and it should've been sooner, but Siopis and Rinomhota in centre-mid left us a tad short of creativity there.
The fact that Riza is looking to send Colwill to League 1 after Xmas suggests he's got no plans to use him in the first team squad although the injuries we've had may have opened the door for him at some point in the past couple of months.
I agree that Twose has been excellent this season and he's nearly always in my top three players when I watch the under 21s. However, while i wouldn't say he was poor on Thursday against Watford, he had one of his quieter games in front of the watching Omer Riza. Perrett on the other hand, produced that eye catching piece of skill which has already been discussed in this thread - although I noticed that Riza said after the game yesterday that he would have had to move Rinomhota into midfield if Robertson had to go off because he had no other midfield options on the bench, so I don't think Perrett was ever going to play.
This Saturday's U18 fixture against Ipswich has been postponed
They posted a "matchday" tweet this morning, probably pre-scheduled, then took it down and replaced it.

Don’t suppose this is live anywhere?
I’m more concerned that the club are still using Musk’s mouthpiece.
