We should have had someone lined up to join us in the first week January.

We needed at least a couple of fresh faces for the Huddersfield game, just to inject a different aspect and unknown dimension for Huddersfield to deal with. With the same core of 16, we're going to be very easy for Hudders to prepare for!

£11M. Iknowhe is 31 but would be a great addition for 2-3 seasons. Particularly if Camarasa has to leave
Dembele is absolutely class, but £11 million which we wouldn't be able to recoup any at that age on a player who is nearly always injured would seem like a big risk.
Also I doubt we would be able to match the salary he could get in China.
That said he would make a massive difference to our team if he could stay fit

This will probably be his last contract. He'll want as much as he can get.

For sure he has been offered big money but would he reconsider to stay in the Premiership.
Even if he went for a free after 2 seasons, it would have cost us £5.5M per season(less than what we paid for Maxine).

Who, bar Bournemouth, has got on with it?

There have been 7 signings in the Premier League, one isn't joining until the summer, and 2 are kids.

Not simply Premiership. Clubs that want to get on with whatever signings they want to improve the team.
Difficult to see many Premiership teams moving quickly unless they are in some form of trouble

15 Premier League teams haven't signed a sausage. It's almost as if it is quite difficult to get multi million pound deals sorted? :sherlock:

Probably down to agents requesting a larger cut of the fee

Or selling clubs waiting to see if they can get more money.

Or the target being the 3rd or 4th domino in the row - like a house buying chain. Delays, ineptitude or nervousness in any part of the chain could stall the whole thing - until everyone gets into a mass panic in the last 48 hours!

Given that it's the 8th and 15 are still to sign anyone, deadline day is going to be manic. Shame we've got 2 absolutely huge games between then. If I'm a selling club, I'm holding out as long as humanly possible to drive the price up. Foreign clubs already see PL clubs as stupid with money before they need panic buy!
