Why do you say it's nonsense? Where does Wales come in the actual genuine this-is-the-real-competition ranking?

The World Factbook is incorrect, then. Care to provide a link showing that it is nonsense to back up your claim?

Since the UK is 34th I'd argue Wales is lower than that.

Everything below 25th is 2007 or older, all bar one above is at least 2014. The newer data is more likely to be accurate.
It's quite loose ground to make your argument.

no, it just meant that Wales generates more electricity than it consumes, but England consumes a little more than it produces.
in fact Wales generates about twice as much energy as it consumes

I wonder what percentage of all electricity used in the UK comes from Wales? I'm guessing that's where most of the exported electricity goes, to the rest of the UK?

I think we generate about 10% of the energy in the UK, but only consume 5%

Thats a fair point.
I'm still not sure whether being 5th largest exporter of electricity means anything when you rely on imported oil and gas for 75% of your electricity generation.
And the surplus we produce is for an extra 3m people. It's not as if we're a major source of power. Context is everything.

Yes of course. I imagine it's to the marches and the South West.
