Re: Cardiff v Leicester 2010 play off semi final on Sky now
the last few seasons we have been woeful at home regardless of manager
Re: Cardiff v Leicester 2010 play off semi final on Sky now
I also believe that was a team built for a long spell in the top flight.
01 Marshall
02 McNaughton (Gerrard 74)
05 Hudson
03 Kennedy
07 Whittingham
10 McPhail
11 Burke (McCormack 58)
16 Ledley
23 Blake
08 Chopra
09 Bothroyd (Etuhu 15)
Most importantly most were young/prime age, with a certain Mr Ramsey waiting in the wings

For all of Dave Jones' loyalty to 442, if Anthony Gerrard's story is true about DJ suggesting 433 only for him to be immediately rebuffed by the ego twins, Bothroyd and Chopra, then perhaps he wasn't so fixated after all. A midfield three of Ledley, McPhail and Whittingham might have solved the soft centre problem and given us an exciting attacking trio of Bothroyd, Chops and McCormack. But there we are.

There'll be a crowd kicking off that DJ didn't play Rambo in the playoff final either if you're not careful :hehe:

a midfield 3 of ledley mcphail and whittingham has a lot of positives, but solid isn't necessarily one of them

I agree it wouldn't be a wall of steel but it would be better than just McPhail and Ledley, no?

I think the biggest negative would have been losing Chris Burke. Asking Chopra to provide some width wouldn't have been as effective as him playing on the shoulder and being given license to be the fox in the box.
That midfield 3 in a 4-3-3 would have meant McNaughton playing more as a wing back. He was a great defender but not that good going forward.
Re: Cardiff v Leicester 2010 play off semi final on Sky now
Chopra was excellent that day. Unlike so many who were poor.
Our midfield 2 completely overwhelmed by their 3 and this was not a new one but add that Charlie Adam was completely different class we were in for a struggle.
Bothroyd going off was a disaster for the system. But not bringing on McCormack criminal. As bad a managerial decision you can get.
Looking at the 11 at least 5 would have needed replacing. But the main issue the man in charge.
Add Malky and add Adam to that central midfield and wed have walked the league.
