Perhaps if you had gone then you could have made a subjective opinion rather than rely on hearsay.

Perhaps, but I prefer to rely on expert opinions like yours and Jimmy's instead. It's cheaper, easier and generally more entertaining.
You were relying upon the opinion of a former goalkeeper though. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/wave.gif

Re: Lowest league crowd at the CCS for almost 5 years
It should hardly come ad a shock as throught my lifetime we have been able to call upon big numbers for certain games but in the matter of a week see a significant drop in attendance for the next fixture.
The whole mess surrounding the club and the quality on offer is enough to deter all but the most committed and all said and done the colour change, although welcome and certainly the right decision IMHO,was hardly going to see thousands flocking back ,as not that many gave up completely anyway, as far as I can see.

Re: Lowest league crowd at the CCS for almost 5 years
11000, 12000 maximum, looking straight at the family stand and I've never seen less fans in there for a league game. A lot of mates couldn't be arsed to go last night because of the poor quality football of late, last night's performance was a whole lot better though in terms of effort.

Re: Lowest league crowd at the CCS for almost 5 years
After attending the Derby game I thought I might fancy another game soon, but apart from having a good day out with some old mates the thought of going back again to a game hasn't really appealed yet.
The club will have to work very very hard to retain and "recruit".

As a Cardiff supporter I enjoyed the game , perhaps he should come down here more often and lower his expectations.

We're just customers though.

Maybe the fact that he was sat next to Neil Mellor, who was doing Rotherham 3 Derby 3, might have influenced him. Murray described City v Blackburn as "a Tony Cottee type of game." If you watch Soccer Saturday or Soccer Special with any regularity, you'll get the joke.

Re: Lowest league crowd at the CCS for almost 5 years
The Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer said in his after match interview it was low key low quality game which reall y does highlight how bad we've been recently when we get excited over a home draw with Blackburn because at least the players put some effort in last night

I dont mind if they try - but fail
and I dont if they try and succeed
It's when they dont appear to try - and when the manager doesnt seem to know what he is doing and when it seems no one gives a sh1t in general - that I start to question why I bother going.

Fair play, it must have been even worse than I imagined recently if last night's effort is seen as a big improvement. Matt Murray was doing the game for Sky's Soccer Special programme and he regularly reported that it was a poor-quality contest between two sides who were cancelling each other out. He said he couldn't see where a goal was going to come from, although admittedly I turned off with about 20 minutes to go so maybe it was an exciting finish.
Last night was one of our best performances of the season so far, which, as you alluded to, speaks volumes

Blackburn manager also mentioned it was a poor game. I recommend him and the sky pundit watch the Brighton match if they want to see what poor is.

Last night's official attendance of 19,057 was the lowest crowd for a Championship match at the Cardiff City Stadium since Wednesday 24th March, 2010. The opposition on that occasion were Sheffield United. That game also ended in a 1-1 draw and was watched by a crowd of 18,715.
My positive attendance response : from where I was sitting it looked the same attendance as the Brighton game .

When has that ever happened in Cardiff City's history? Some take a broader view of the club and take things like finances into account when gauging it's health and it must be said that there was a virtually unique reason behind why some stopped going to games at Cardiff in recent years, but, when push comes to shove, it's always how a team is doing on the pitch that influences attendances. Cardiff City have been just like any other club down the years in that regard except that their fans have, if anything, been quicker to jump ship when things start going wrong than those at many other teams.
Well said

What surprises me you take the view of a TV pundit with half an eye on the game watching on a small restricted screen monitor .At a live game a broader view is obtained and the players are much taller.

It was a lower than normal crowd but a better atmosphere without the boo boys turning up
