There is a real malaise within the club and its fanbase at present. People can pretend that isn't so if they like, but it's palpable. There are lots of genuine, lifelong supporters who were there during the dungeon days and were passionate during those times but have now reached the stage where they couldn't care less about what club or the team is doing. There are many factors that have brought about that situation, but I'm 100% confident that it is by no means simply down to what is happening on the field.
Very true, loads I know in there 40's who went without question in the dark days but don't now. dark they were but we still had pride and passion. They seem a million miles from what we have today.....

Easier to go 20/30 years ago when we were teenagers, it was a lot cheaper and didn't have families.
I know loads in their 40s who don't go anymore as well. One or two use the Tan excuse most are honest and haven't got the time or coin to spend every weekend at the football home and away.

I've got the time and the coin now my kids are grown.
I don't bother much these days for four reasons:
1. Tan's a prick who doesn't deserve my money.
2. My kids no longer nag me to take them.
3. Life's too short to get angry and pissed off every couple of days.
4. It was more of a laugh back in the day.
Would I still go every week if Tan wasn't here? Probably not.
Would I make the effort to go more if Tan wasn't here? Certainly.

That's right.
Nothing stays the same.
Peoples circumstances change and people deal with that change differently.
Still the biggest influence is success.
That one thing hasn't changed.

Incredibly rich to come from some nerd who doesn't even go to matches.

Well what I posted was meant to be a joke based on what Dr Lecter wrote a few posts before mine, but I think it's awesome that you've shown everyone that you're prepared to dish out the nasty words to stick up for your man-crush there, well done.

The remark was actually very clever, not obvious to the naked eye and I suspect went over the heads of most (including mine).
Upon inspection, what seemed like a volatile inflammatory remark to the naked eye, if viewed alone, was a piece of genuinely sharp wit.
Unless of course it was meant to be inflammatory, in which case it was even more clever as it could be passed off a joke if challenged.

I don't get why some are reluctant to admit that there are those who stopped watching us because of Vincent Tan. Yes, there are plenty who would cite other reasons as to why they've stopped going, but there are undoubtedly those who don't go now primarily because of our owner and I'd expect some of them will come back if and when he leaves.
Re: A lot worse than I thought
I've been to the majority home games good or bad over the years , with or without Tan , will still go as its in the blood , however this is the most apathetic team I've seen for a long while, last year wasn't great but at least they tried as a a unit and gave us a little bit of hope .
