Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
Although not a great footballer, Earnie was the best natural goalscorer I've seen at the club. His ability for being in the right place at the right time could not be taught. Chopra came close to Earnie in this respect but the little man just edges it for me.

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
No votes for Madine? Every game I see him play I think "He'll score today", how wrong am I?

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
1 Earnshaw
2 Carl Dale
3 Stant
4 Chopra
5 Ian Rush
I saw Ian Rush in the toilet down city

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
When you think that Robert Earnshaw is the only footballer ever to have scored a hat trick in all 4 divisions, the FA Cup, the League Cup and at International level it makes you realise how lucky we were to have him.

There's only one Danny Showers.
Otherwise Toshack (ooh-ooh) for those who remember the chant back in the day.

Can’t dispute that but Toshack/Clark equally as good, then Earnie.

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
Toshack for me! The first and best centre forward I saw, in my lifetime of supporting City

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
Surprised that no-one has mentioned Tommy Halliday!!

He mostly played centre half for us but I remember him scoring from a free kick inside our half in his first game against Norwich. So for me it’s got to be Tosh! Him and Brian Clarke were a superb partnership even better than my second choices Tappy and Graham Moore!

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
Depends what you’re basing it on really? Have we had to see them play?
If so, Bothroyd was probably my favourite ever city player. If he fancied it he genuinely looked World Class. Other times he looked like he’d struggle in league 2.
You could say John Charles was easily the best ever Cardiff player on paper, but from what I remember, his best playing days was behind him when he was here.

Flip of a coin between Tony Evans who walked on water and Earnie for me with Nathan Blake 3rd. None of them great though.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Leo Fortune-West

Fortune west was a sex god
His goals up at York got us promoted
And his downward header against leeds led to the rebound that Scott young poked home
Bloody legend

I never understood all the fuss about Peter Thorne either. He was decent but maybe it was because we paid (at the time anyway) a big fee for him, that people seemed to go overboard about him. I just didn’t get it.

Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
Probably Toshack but for a prolonged period, Earnie as he was so prolific.
-
Re: Greatest centre forward you have seen at Cardiff city
Toshack was good but Brian Clark was my hero & an absolute gentleman.
Never saw John Charles play for City 1 year before my first game but I met him & saw him play for Hereford & he was class in everything he did.
I've played against Gary Stevens in the Hereford Sunday League before he signed for City
