Why are Engerland so crap at pelantys?

Luke Shaw is another I thought would be there - isn't he a free kick specialist?

I don't think they practices penalties that much - Rashford does the same thing every time, all the goalie had to do was do his homework and stare in him down and make the move - put more pressure on Rashford ( who already had the pressure of coming on to do one thing ). Disaster waiting to happen.

I don't think Saka has ever taken a competitive penalty in his career. He's only a teenager. Training doesn't get you ready to be the fifth of five in that kind of pressurised situation. He should never have been put in that position. It does no credit to the likes of Grealish and other more experienced players.
The whole game was odd, he started with 7 defensive minded players and all his skilled attackers were on the bench - - where they stayed until it was too late.

Grealish tweeted this morning to say that he wanted to take one but Southgate made the decision - he was annoyed by the claims (including Sky Sports News and CCMB) that he bottled it!

Agree about Sancho and Rashford, that was bizzare. Not Saka though. He's out there playing in a semi final, i don't think that he needs protecting.

I don't think he needs protecting from taking a penalty, but having him take the 5th one baffled me. Its an extraordinary amount of pressure to put on a teenager who hasn't had the best game and not taken a penalty (as far as I'm aware) in professional football

Part of me's surprised Pickford wasn't in their first 5 :hehe:
