There is a lot of truth in what you say. Although to many people this sounds like a nightmare, this was/is considered normal for a whole lot of people. They still go to football, the pub, cinema, etc., but they also have other people to discuss it all with. It can't be that bad - it's been happening for a long time! Doesn't have to be parents of your kids friends.

One social thing I miss the most is playing 5 aside footy which I did twice a week for 20 years up until the age of 45, too many injuries and aches, ligaments and Achilles issues….pubs a bit boring these days a mission to get most mates to go ever and there not even 50!
Kids take over a lot of stuff and I love hanging out with them more than anything, can’t imagine lockdown without these two entertainers I have. Besides this, going to the gym, cycling, tennis, squash and the odd pub outing are enough for me these days. If you see people too much they become annoying anyway….:xmashehe:

I'm probably being a bit harsh - I'm aware that family life can overwhelm and there'll be little scope for much else. Also, people are naturally tribal and will seek out understanding for their own lives but as Tuerto points out, this can be embraced in rather odd ways.
But it can be easy to fall off the radar or feel spare if you're not part of this mentality. Never mind, perhaps I should get down Aldi and try and bond with someone over the dehumidifiers.

It's football for me. Going to games. Without it, it's pretty miserable tbh. I go to all home games and I'll pick a local non-league or lower league match when we're away. Wherever I've lived, it's been football. I'd go to more away matches but the travel can be exhausting for me and I have to meticulously plan. No match before Chrismas meant no socialising. No match on boxing day meant no socialising and not getting the chance to catch up with people. Being shut out of home matches in Cardiff means no socialising. I'm not a happy bunny right now.
