Sadly he passed away a few years back. RIP
It could have been 9/10-2 and that’s no exaggeration. He was saving them with all parts of his body including his face :hehe:
I remember being extremely pissed off that the lads got booed off as we played exceptional but it was just one of those once in a lifetime performances from their keeper.

It was Barnet.

As for Gabbiadini’s goal, clearly a great one, but, my mind may be playing tricks on me a bit here, but my memory is that the ball sat up really nicely for him to hit, so I think it was a relatively easy hit for someone with his technique.
Bob, the ball may have sat up but he was at the very least 40 yards from the goal. Yes his ball striking technique was exceptional but the power and accuracy he achieved over such a distance was astonishing. The odds of him being able to replicate that shot again in a game situation would be quite small I would imagine.
Similarly, Peter King's wonder goal against Middlesbrough was one I don't think he could replicate in a million years, such was the improbability of the trajectory the ball took when it left his foot. The look of wonderment on his face as the ball went in said it all.

Gabbiadini was a good Premier League level striker at his best, I reckon he’d score goals like that quite regularly in training. Funilly enough, King said he was practicing shots like his volley a few days earlier on a beach in Cyprus when City played Larnaca, but you’re right about the look of wonderment on his face which betrays that he had no real expectation that he would score when he hit the ball. The skills needed for King’s goal were much harder than those for Gabbiadini’s - he was good enough to have been thinking he had a decent chance of scoring as he lined up his shot.

I always had you down as a sensible member of this board Bob but the "ball sat up" and it was a "relatively easy hit" (45yards mind) has lowered my opinion of you substantially but your humour is far more acceptable than Mr Carrs to be fair.
Must be all that fresh Treherbert mountain air percolating the the consciousness of the
inhabitants of the valley below!
I once saw John Charles score from the centre circle, that was a bit of a fluke (not) too!
Re: Best goal scored against the City
Didn't Kem Izzet score a cracker the year we went up from League 1 playing for Colchester I think?
Plus another vote for Gabbiadini.
Re: Best goal scored against the City
Jimmy Bullard scored a cracker against us a few seasons back
Re: Best goal scored against the City
Charlie Adam's free kick in the play-off final was gut wrenching but quality.
Re: Best goal scored against the City
Deulofeu could have his own goal of the month competition against us

I didn't say it was a fluke, I said it was a goal that was on for a player like Gabbiadini when the ball bounced the way it did if my memory is correct.
Just watched the goal again and my memory does serve me correct, it was about thirty five yards out, Alexander was about five or six yards off his line and the ball bounced perfectly for a player with very good technique - a fine goal, but not the wonder strike it's being described as in this thread.

Disagree with you there Bob. He was at least double the distance of the penalty area from goal and on a slight angle. Forty yards plus all day long.
It is a wonder strike of the highest order. If it had been scored for and not against us, we would have been proclaiming it as the goal of the century !

Oh dear, dear, I was just jesting, won't bother you again.

Yep, that was a shitpinger!

Les O’Neil I think his name was, it was a tremendous goal and Alan Campbell equalised within a minute.
Re: Best goal scored against the City
Has to be Gabbiadini. Very very rare there is home applause for a goal.
