Re: Anyone using P and O Ferries this summer?
Would EU employment laws have prevented this?

Re: Anyone using P and O Ferries this summer?
We should just boycott them looking at average earning they don't earn a fortune
The average P&O Ferries salary ranges from approximately £14,947 per year for Operations Clerk to £89,450 per year for Service Crew. Average P&O Ferries hourly pay ranges from approximately £8.08 per hour for Stewardess to £11.96 per hour for Credit Controller.
However its seems they are better payers than most in that industry ??

Re: Anyone using P and O Ferries this summer?
I wouldn't be surprised if are-branding exercise takes place in due course.

No. And what they have done is allegedly illegal anyway.

One observer said this morning that the payroll company is registered in Guernsey, so is not covered by UK or EU employment laws.

Totally agree, this talent notion is bullshit anyway. Connections are what matter, not merit in such lofty positions.

The majority of people (not all) will vote with their pocket and this will all be forgotten about in a few months time.

I don’t think this will have an effect on how people vote in itself, and, anyway, every Tory I’ve heard speak on the subject has been scathing about P and O, but it does add to what I think, and hope, is a growing impression among the public that there are some pretty thick and completely selfish people in positions of power these days - it’s probably always been the case, but there doesn’t half seem to be a lot of them at the moment.

Why on earth would you expect anything other than being scathing about this, irrespective of how they may vote?

I was saying this matter is non political in so far as all politicians I’ve heard talk about it have been scathing about P and O, but if you want to make it political, which party do you think it’s most likely those who came to the decision voted for in 2019? Could it be the one with a historic tendency to ride roughshod over worker’s rights?

I'm on a ferry this summer, but it's Brittany Ferries. East for me me to say but I would strongly urge people to look at them and Irish Ferries and Stena. I can't say Ive heard of worse corporate behaviour than P&O on this
Irish ferries have some pretty shady employment practices themselves mind. I think they went down the cheap agency route a good few years ago.

I meant more literally people will have some form of cognitive dissonance and whilst criticising them still use their services
Always happens

Re: Anyone using P and O Ferries this summer?
Let’s be honest most companies would get away with murder if not for employment laws, the more they’re stripped away, the further those in charge will go. As TOBW states those with leanings to the Tory party are more likely to be complicit with this. It’s not a big secret.

You could be right, but, for me, this is worse than a Ratners moment for P and O because of the heartlessness of it at a time when there’s a cost of living crisis going on and also the manner they went about informing the sacked workers of their decision - I reckon TBG is right when he suggests a rebranding exercise in the fairly near future.

How do you work that one out? No member of any party would support the (supposedly illegal) sacking of hundreds of workers and replacement with cheaper agency (supposedly largely foreign) Labour.
If any party did support such actions - and the dont - such an accusation could be thrown at all parties.

If you are struggling to understand why only British employees were sacked without notice by DP World and P&O Ferries, here's Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab to provide some clarification. https://t.co/dvGen2dQvp https://twitter.com/Cromwell606/stat...GX49tEPVCQeHHw

So you don’t agree that Tory leaning people would be the ones most likely to support the stripping away of workers’ rights.

Re: Anyone using P and O Ferries this summer?
Another piece by James Wales’ favourite political columnist for him to read. This one is about P and O with some interesting Linked In opinions about that tosser in the video - seems like a dyed in the wool socialist to me.

For someone who claims not to be a Tory you don't half jump to their defence a lot

No right minded person thinks it is right whoever they vote for .
It's got bugger all to do with Brexit , Evil Boris , or Scum Tories it's about a company that was once decent ,been taking over by some ****witt that had some standing in the world once but has now fallen from grace, and no longer has any decency .
