Think he didn't give the ball away that much, and I remember reading an article that said he was the most evenly two-footed player in the division that season.
Clearly a terrible signing for Fulham and Forest though.
We had three games towards the end of the season where we completely outplayed Bournemouth, West Ham and Brighton all by 2-0. All three of those teams were low on confidence and wilted against a City side which combined in their faces aggression with a fair degree of quality football. It was Warnock type football at its most effective and we might have done the same to Chelsea were it not for a shockingly bad decision.
When we played like that, Arter was an important part of the team, but then there were other games (Watford and Everton at home within a few days of each other spring to mind) when he was a headless chicken. I think it’s fair to say that he was an effective Premier League footballer in the first two or three seasons after Bournemouth got promoted, but he was on his way down when he came here and he’s fallen a long way pretty quickly in recent seasons - he was the sort of player who couldn’t offer a lot once his legs started to go.
