I'm sure that i have it on DVD. Put the trailer up from youtube sludge, i can't do it. Brilliant film, so funny and accurate about the era of self made local business men running professional sports outfits back in the day.

Haven’t watched it in years, but I remember I was crying with laughter at some of the scenes.

This is a brilliant film! Love the sh*t camerawork too!

Re: Your fave football films/scenes EVER!
GOAL! the first one I still have a soft spot for. Especially Gavin Harris who turns up late for training because he was 'visiting a sick kid in hospital!' The other thing about the actor who played him, he's American! Cheesy film but still has its moments.
GOAL! 2 was OK but forget GOAL! 3 as it wasn't even made by the same people and there was no continuity. In other words, it was utter sh*t.

Those cavemen working up a sweat at the start of the film were actually members of the Collingwood team , the director didn't want extras ruining the raw authenticity of the tough working class nature of aussie rules
I think like rugby league , American football and a few others it's utterly stupid but hilarious to watch , vinnie Jones would be crying to the ref in seconds

Going to watch this over the weekend. Will be the subtitled version. Never seen it and looking forward to a new experience.

This scene from Mike Bassett, the infamous half time team talk. I think most of us have, at one time or another, hoped City or Wales (or whoever) needed an absolute bollocking at half time. Bassett delivers this superb rant but probably the funniest bit follows when it transpires that the roasting he's given the team has made no difference at all and they've gone on to be battered!
I saw somewhere that the scene was never scripted. Ricky Tomlinson was given licence to shout and swear and say what he wanted.

It's quite hard to get hold of. DVD on eBay is around £2.99 (not many) but a BluRay goes for £40! Nothing available on Amazon.
Got it on Apple in the end in Cantonese with English Subtitles! tonight!
