Keir Starmer, the Trilateral Commission's Globalist Fanatic

I've had four conversations of varying lengths with sitting and former MPs down the years which all took place on trains, two were London underground ones. One was a Tory, John Redwood, two from Labour, Kim Howells and Dianne Abbott, and one from Plaid, Dafydd Wigley.

I found the first three to be stand-offish. Redwood was every bit as Mr Bean-ish as he looks.

Wigley though was very personable. Although I suspect he was more so as he spent much of the Paddington to Swansea choo-choo journey stood at the buffet car swigging grog.

He made various ambiguous remarks hinting that the Commons was full of play actors who had few if any real political convictions. He said something along the lines of: the primary objective of every MP is to remain one for as long as possible.

Oh, I don't know. He used to do a great stand up routine on his 2020 Tour where he promised party unity, a programme based on the 2017 manifesto, maintenance of radical values and promoting the moral case for socialism. He then waved around 10 Pledges and said he would keep to them. How we laughed!

I forgot about that classic.. had me in stitches that :facepalm:

I want to see his policies before the election but as it stands I don't think I can vote for him after that lie, I voted for him to be Labour leader as well.

Yep, let's stick to the same manifesto that we lost on (55 less seats and nearly 1 million less votes) - that'll teach the electorate how to vote!!

No, he was a QC - and now works in the military heading up something in the Govt court martial service

God knows the last few Tory governments haven't had much to crow about but they can at least take credit for making electable Sir Keir Starmer, former grammar and public school boy, Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath, King's Counsel and self-styled Man of the People.

Whenever I hear this sort of thing - it takes me back to the Michael Foot general election campaign. When he lost rather than accepting his socialist manifesto was not wanted by the electorate - he proclaimed it failed because it wasnt socialist enough.
The egg and chips theory - if someone rejects the eggs and chips you have on offer - your response is too offer them double egg and chips instead rather than something else. It's been a failure mode of Labour every election - other than the Tony Blair years

I'm not sure what my opinion of Starmer has to do with Sunak but as long as you do then that's fine.

Lol - Corbyn went to a Grammar school - and so did his son.

I dont think Sunak is pretending to be a working class hero like Sir Keir or Jez Corbyn.

Or you can have the other end of the spectrum - Angie Rayner - the only thing she left school with was a baby.

I would vote for anyone ......even a Liberal Democrat.....if it got rid of a tory government .....and kept them out

I think starmer and his team are dreadful and the labour party are lucky the Tories are in such a mess . What on earth is Yvette Cooper still in the shadow cabinet for ?

The Labour Party has enough problems with the two wings of their party without subsuming the Lib Dems - and voters who vote for the latter won't necessarily vote Labour if that happens.
