The figures showing our away support
They show we are averaging about 1100
We had a really important game against Birmingham which in previous seasons has sold out and this year we took half of what we usually do
The fans who go are amazing
But our away following is not what it used to be

Our away support is not on the rise
It's not what it was
I think the plan to sell half price tickets for Sundays game is excellent
I don't know how old you are but our last away of the season was always a huge turnout
I doubt very much that thousands will go up to Burnley

What was our away support like when we were promoted under Warnock? Thing is sludge, we've been on the slide ever since we were relegated from the Premier League, ad it's not like we have had any players to shout about. It does make a difference.

I appreciate that
Maybe the last few crap years have killed the enthusiasm and some have lost their mojo

Enthusiasm is a key word.

Why is 1 midweek game against Brum your benchmark for if our away support is doing well?
You complain we only took 900 but ignore the fact 2200 went to Coventry.
Huddersfield get praise for bringing 1900 on a bank holiday and then when it’s mentioned we took 1900 on a bank holiday to Blackpool, you dismiss it because Swansea took more.
You’re also wrong btw. I’ve been to Birmingham 5 times. 2 of them were midweek games and neither were close to a sellout, both had around 1000 City fans. The Saturday games however are always well supported and we continue to take big crowds despite us playing in Birmingham pretty much every year for 15 years.

Re: 25000 sold for Sunday
I generally only do city away games since moving away from Cardiff in 1979 and now live in Stockport. Bar the premier league or promotion seasons we are taking much higher numbers to distant northern away games these days with a much younger following as well

Nowhere near. If that’s the announced number it makes me think there’s a need to make it seem there is more revenue coming in than is actually the case

Where was the 25k when we needed them?

Re: 25000 sold for Sunday
26,804
Bigger than 19 other Championship teams' highest attendance this season. And it wasn't even our biggest crowd of the campaign.
Not bad for a club with a poor support at this level...

This is what I have been trying to tell you
Big crowds now and then but not the consistent support that's needed
Today was typical ccfc
Plenty of families there today but they won't be first in line for a ticket after that garbage

No one is denying that we get bigger crowds for bigger games. Every club does.
You constantly say we’re a poorly supported club, with todays crowd we’ll finish the season as the club with the 10th highest average attendance. Despite this being our worst season in 20 years, following on from our second worst season in 20 years.

Doing other things with their cash and who can blame them? Every time we get a big crowd we are usually terrible. I’m amazed they bother to come back…..

Clearly the population growth within Cardiff and surrounding areas is slowing having a positive impact on our crowds as is the decline in the popularity of rugby.

Without Tan's Folly the capacity is around 27,500 right? I couldn't see the grandstand, but the Bob Bank, the Grange End and the Canton were VERY far from 97% full. 26,804 is complete bollocks.

That’s because its tickets sold just like every other club.

Attendance is done on tickets sold. It’s the same at every club and has been the same for years.

Re: 25000 sold for Sunday
Something we all find hard to do but have to give credit to the club off the pitch for the crowds. Pricing and promotion etc.... the club get a lot wrong but to nearly touch 27k for this team after this season on a Sunday midday on tv....... they've done something right there. Credit where its due as the crowds can not be anything to do with what has happened on the pitch at the CCS for the past 3 or 4years!!

Re: 25000 sold for Sunday
So 8000 people bought tickets and didn't show up?

Not sure it was as many as that, but yeah. It was a meaningless game, on TV, on a Sunday, pissing down with rain and with no trains running.

I was amazed how few were there considering the apparent ticket sales.
Watched the highlights (if they can be described as such) this morning. Incredible amount of empty seats in the Ninian Stand considering the crowd was declared as 26,804. Can't quite work out how that figure was arrived at.
