I'll go for Caerphilly. Moved here from Cardiff 14 years ago and not regretted the move once. I have a train station 4 minutes walk from me, so never need to take the car into Cardiff city centre again. So many lovely walks all within a few minutes drive. Can't fault the place

Gwaelod y Garth, Creigiau, Pentyrch, Rudry, Machen and Drythen are all very nice places but are any of them "valleys"?
-
Re: Best Place to Live in the Valleys ?
Others might think I’m daft, but Treorchy reminds me a little of Canton and I mean that as a good thing.

Treorchy got a lot going for it Bob. I work in the RCT area and not how vibrant Treorchy High Street is.
It's also got a few decent pubs and everything needed can be found there.

We could've been neighbours, then you'd have changed your mind.

Brynmawr. Officially the coldest place on Earth.

I know what you mean and I agree. I like Treorci. Plus it can take 20 minutes to get through the place in peak traffic so there are even more similarities!

There's a Brynmawr in Pennsylvania. They call it Brin-mar. It's quite posh. I was working there one day and told this lady how to pronounce it and what it meant. She didn't give a ****.

Bryn Mawr is also a suburb of Chicago - and it's unbelievably cold there in winter.

There's an adage in Aberfan/Merthyr which states "I'd rather walk round Brynmawr with a rusty nail in my foot."
Interpret as you wish.
As it goes Brynmawr is a great place.

Re: Best Place to Live in the Valleys ?
I've lived in a few places outside of Cardiff, but as a Cardiff lad, I couldn't see myself ever living in the valleys.

I think most people would believe that Chicago can be cold in the winter.
