I can see someone like Warnock injecting some positivity and confidence into the squad - as a presence around the training ground not as a replacement manager. Riza says individual players have psychologists who work with them, but there was no indication that the club or the coaching staff have actively tried to do much work with the squad as a whole to improve focus, motivation, confidence and concentration.
The players are what they are, but if we had the best version of the squad out every game we would be all right. We don't - they blow hot and cold. Most are capable of a 7 performance or better, but then next game (or next half) fear, confusion, apathy or poor concentration throws up a 4 or a 5.
I don't know what Riza and the coaches are capable of doing with the defence beyond selection decisions, but that is the biggest problem to solve. Work on corners, free kicks and throw ins must surely happen every week - but there is not much evidence of it on match days. A new coach to work on that for the next month - and a new face/voice on the training ground - might make the difference.
To me, when you're a struggling team, struggling with confidence, the last thing you need is looking across at the halfway line and seeing Riza standing there with his hands in pockets looking gormless. If Warnock was only to show a tad of leadership, authority, even respect [which I suspect for Riza has long gone], then maybe we'll scrape a win instead of a draw. Colwill's set pieces las night did not have the look a someone who's expecting a b*llocking.
Re: Rumours of Warnock coming in
I know where he is due to be on Saturday and it's not at a Cardiff City game.
Re: Rumours of Warnock coming in

He was in the studio covering the Leeds game - but I think that is part of the Sky Campus in London - a long way from the Riverside.

A new coach may make a difference in the short term, which is what we're after at the moment, but not in the long term. We have a group of players who, when under pressure, make poor decisions. Those two at the back switched off for half a second for Preston's first goal. These players know that they have to concentrate and put themselves in good positions, show awareness and anticipation, but they fail on a weekly basis, and that's all of them, just some are worse than others.
Another if our big problems is that we play I. Front of teams, never through them or around them. Preston cut us open a few times yesterday, and it was affective, we just can't do It, so it becomes predictable and it's all in front of the opposition, so they never get turned like we do.
The situation we find ourselves in has been coming for a long time, and in all honesty, I'm shocked at how apathetic fans have been, and how easy we as a fan base have gone on players, owners and management, we're easily pleased, and the position is seemingly that it could always be worse, well it could, but it could be better, loads better. I don't want to say that we get what we deserve, but you know.....

I'm not, its been over a decade of nonsense at this club with Tan et al in charge. I think there's a chance that relegation would snap fans out of apathy as in spite of the general decline over the past few years we're yet to be faced with any real consequences.

It’s way too late to change the manager now anyway.
In saying that though, almost anyone is better really….even Ramsey, anyone.
