Some pretty heavy challenges are going in for pre season...

Indeed.

Rubin scored the second with a free kick over the wall.

Looks solid again
Nyakuhwa's had his moments too

Salech's been sent off :hehe:

What kind of preseason game is this?! Rough as hell.

It ends 2-2 with a mix up at the back.

Its one thing to play cynically in a league game, I'd imagine its particularly annoying to be getting that kind of attention in a friendly though.

I like the look of Lawlor and Nyakuhwa. Hope we see a lot more of them this season.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
Thought Fish should've dealt with the ball for their second. Bit of a mad game - maybe a new rivalry will form between us and them.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
I suppose the way to look at that equaliser is to imagine what the reaction would be if we had conceded it in a league game we were 2-1 up in. We should have won that though as we had so many chances. Thought Lawlor, Ashford and Colwill were impressive in the second half and it was encouraging to see Wintle tracking back fifty yards in the closing minutes - I enjoyed our performance in the second half apart from some of the finishing.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
Coming into the game, I only hadn't seen Nyakuhwa and Mafico. The former definitely impressed me, the latter didn't.
Lawlor did well today too, and Rubin hit a great free kick and some good buildup play. Salech red card unfortunate, and avoidable, but at least shows he's playing with passion, he just needs to not lose his head.
Turner definitely doesn't seem ready in goal.

When it was obvious Jake Dennis had no option but to pump the ball 80 yards upfield, I’d expect any retreating defenders to get the hell out of the way.
Disappointing end to the game. Rubin’s a class above.

They subbed their sending off we couldn't?

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 2 JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
Tsunoda looked good before the injury, hopefully it's not anything major.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 2 JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
2-2 and we will have a hard time next season.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 2 JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
I think the scoreline does flatter them a little bit, we just had some defensive issues that will hopefully improve with more co-ordination and leadership on the pitch. The second half's attack and the first half's defence is for the most part the template we should go for here.

If Mafico has played full back before for us, I’ve not seen it. He was on a hiding to nothing.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 2 JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
I thought Rubin was a class apart. On the evidence of tonight I'd start Lawlor ahead of Kpakio at right back. Nyakhuwa and King did well.
We desperately need a dominant 5, a pacey left winger and probably a 6.
I'm not sure who other than our strikers and Rubin are going to score goals for us.
The formation appeared to such both full backs and wingers further forward than previous seasons and we played with a single, rather than a double pivot. This is going to leave us a bit exposed at the back on times. That said - last season, even with a defensive set up, we were so open to a counter anyway.
But early days. I'm guessing we will be a little more organised come the 3rd August

Agreed, although I'm not sure why he is being fast tracked ahead of Perrett and Twose.

Agreed, but he's not big enough to play centre back in League 1
