Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
2-0 halftime. City well worth their lead, but they’ve been pretty careless I feel with their finishing and general passing. Salech missed an easy header at 0-0 and could also have scored from a good pass by Wintle. Southend forced Horvarth into an early save, but it’s been comfortable at the back for City since then.

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Not a bad performance, although it must be said that Southend aren't offering a thing, they're really struggling. The build up play is quicker and the line is higher, we haven't had to defend because Southend don't have the ability to even string a couple of passes together. First goal was poor play by Southend getting caught out, Colwill played a neat ball into salech and he finished with composure. 2nd goal was from a brak and a great fizzed cross from the right from Colwill with salech putting himself in the right position to score. We have lacked a little bit of quality around the box, if we were that little sharper and composed it would be 5 at half time.

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Fish and Lawlor have looked very controlled.
I wonder if they have started to play themselves into starting slots when the serious stuff begins?
Daland still makes me nervous (and is so slow), and Tsunoda may still be carrying that injury from the last game?
Giles and Kpakio both a bit careless with their passes and turned over possession too often.
Nyakuhwa, Rubin and Salach grew into the half and started to look good.

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
no daland, willock, etete, tsunoda

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
I thought Wintle did well bringing the ball out. Colwill and Salech look like they could be a quality partnership.

Big drop off in quality this half

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
City struggling playing into a strong wind in the second half. Horvarth’s had to make a fine save and Southend have just hit the post. We’re hanging on at the moment.

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Chambers slows the game down to much for my liking, in the first half Wintle took the ball and advanced with it. We don't have a focal point up front, Robertson and Davies are very lightweight, especially compared to Colwill and Salech

I thought that Will Spiers did really well.

Seen Spiers play for the U21’s on several occasions. Carry’s the ball forward well and seems to know how to defend. Likes a tackle.

Spot on. He's exciting to watch.

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Having watched those two games I'm starting to see a starting 11. Hovarth will be keeper, right back probably Kpacio though Spiers looks good. Left back Giles or Bagan, though Bagan has been playing centre back. Centre back I'd go with Lawlor and Fish, though I suspect it will be Chambers and Fish. Centre midfield Wintle with either Turnbull or Robertson. Wingers, I think Nyakuhwa has been the pick of them, the other wing position being wide open. Colwill and Salech upfront look really good together.

presumably Ng will be RB when fit.

Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Horvath/Alnwick GK
Kpakio/NG full-backs
Fish/Lawlor centre-backs
Chambers CDM
Turnbull CM, Colwill CAM
Ashford, Nyakuhwa wingers
Salech striker
That's a pretty good starting 11. We can make adjustments

Set to miss the start of the season according to Glen Williams
Huge chance for Kpakio, needs to prove himself over the next few weeks

Ng’s injury is a strange one. He’s out for around five weeks according to every media source I’ve seen apart from SI on the Cardiff City World videos who has said on plenty of separate occasions that it’s five months he’s out for.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 3 - 0 SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Fish and Lawlor could start against the Posh, as Chambers is suspended, after his red card at Norwich.
