Re: Wimbledon Men’s Final 2025
It looks like that pair are going to dominate for a while. I thought Alcaraz lost that, too many things going on in his head, Sinner was mentally stronger.

Alcatraz concentration seemed all over the place. Dont know if he was feeling the heat but he was trying to end the rallies early, playing way too many drop shots.etc

Stich and Edberg would have been a serve and volley Final from back in the dats when I used to watch every minute of the Final, but I can’t recall that one at all. I think there was a Final around that time that got rained off on the Sunday and had to be held over to the Monday, so, maybe, it was that one and I was in work? Just looked it up and it was Edberg v Lendl that went on into the Monday.
Ivanisavic and Rafter also was on a Monday.
I remember as a girl in work had recorded it and had told everyone on her floor not to let her know the result.
Unfortunately I walked up from a different floor and spoilt her viewing.
Luckily she was a big Ivanisavic fan so she was quite happy.

There were Lendl Pro.
Off the top of my head there was Lendl Advantage and a Supreme(?)
Had a pair of Lendl Courts which I wore to death.
Was always more interested in the clothing at Wimbledon unless Sabatini was playing, then later Kournikova.

Total contrast of styles and personalities.
Stan was (I think) a US Army corporal. Ilie was a junior officer in the Romanian Army back in 1972 (lieutenant maybe?) but ended up a Major General.
I read somewhere that they remained friends after that final.
Nastie was brilliant in those veterans doubles matches that were played for laughs - but showed off ridiculous levels of skill.
Just asked her about Nastase, yes she did see him play but not in the final against Smith, of the women she remembers seeing, Tracy Austin, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova being the ones she remembers.
