Y Niwl at Clwb on Friday. Probably my favourite Welsh language, instrumental, surf guitar band.

How many are there fitting that description?
And if they are an instrumental band how are they classified as Welsh language?

Anvil!! Honestly Sludge! We have had this conversation before, but weren't you one of the teenybopper headbangers down the front at St Davids Hall, creaming their jeans when Lips played the guitar with a dildo. This was when they supported Motorhead on 'Another Perfect Day' Tour, I think? It made me cringe with embarrassment....
Mind you somewhere in your mancave you have one of Simon Kirke's drumsticks from when the band Wildlife were support to MSG back in '83. So you do have a little bit of good taste lol

Yep that was me and I still have the drumstick somewhere
Anvil were great , better than motorhead , another perfect day without fast Eddie and Brian Robertson was a shocking album
Micheal schenker was dreadful

Loved Robbo with Lizzy, but he was a bit out of his depth with 'head. The sound was atrocious that night, bouncing off the walls, due to the poor acoustics of St Davids Hall.
Yeah, you are right, Schenker was pants. I walked out halfway thru the gig. Wildlife, who later morphed into FM, totally blew them offstage. Still the best support band I have ever seen

That's exactly my memory of events except for wildlife , good but no TOOL

Well all the songs titles and album sleeve notes are Welsh. Only circumstantial evidence admittedly...

King Crimson are touring in Britain next year. Hopefully that will include Cardiff (like 2015). In the meantime, Sludge, feed on this beaut. The quality of the new Chicago recording is excellent.

I use bandsintown.com. They email me directly. They even email about bands I don't know based on other bands I like.

I have the app, they send me notifications when artists send me messages about a new album/mixtape/EP/whatever

UK SUBS , GBH, DISCHARGE, PONTY MUNI ,NEXT MAY
For all you punks this a belter of a gig
Discharge are liked by a lot of us metalheads for their guitar sound and their see nothing album is immense
I like heavy punk like discharge and dead Kennedys , great crunching riffs

Re: UK SUBS , GBH, DISCHARGE, PONTY MUNI ,NEXT MAY
I saw the UK Subs in the Three Horse Shoes Bridgend around New Year last year as my stepsons band were supporting them.
They were awful, the Subs that is !
I don"t think they had a single member from the original line up, UK Subs in name only.

Saw the UK Subs about three years at The Globe, in Cardiff. They still have original vocalist and main man Charlie Harper (now in his 70s!) fronting the band. Also on bass was Alvin Gibbs who has been with the band since 1980. If original "proper" punk (i.e not a manufactured boy band like the Pistols or a bunch of Stones wannabes like The Clash), then I'd definitely recommend them.

It's the original line up now , I am going to see discharge anyway , a big influence on a lot of metal bands like machine head , earth crisis , stamping ground , heavy as feck discharge

Re: UK SUBS , GBH, DISCHARGE, PONTY MUNI ,NEXT MAY
I went to see the Subs, as well as my stepsons band, but they were truly awful & I liked the Subs first time around.
I just checked & the only member from the original line up that was in the band that night was Harper.
Quite a few walked out half way through their set they were that bad.
Just saying my experience of that gig & as stated I liked the UK Subs first time around which was the main reason I went as I have obviously seen my stepsons band loads of times.

Re: UK SUBS , GBH, DISCHARGE, PONTY MUNI ,NEXT MAY
Hopefully it is Sludge & you have a great night.
I saw the Ruts DC last year as well, again my stepsons band were support, & the Ruts by comparison to the Subs were superb.
Played some of their old stuff & some new stuff, went down a storm.
Hope you have a great night both music & the ladies wise.
