Here's a daft one considering how many times I saw City lose at Ninian Park:
'His name is Jimmy Scoular
And he's the leader of the Blues.
We never get beat at Ninian Park
We never, ever lose.'
He’ll take us to Division One............yeah right:cry:

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
Yeah, I remember him turning to the Grange End and shrugging his shoulders, I seem to remember the story being a big headline at the time, but he took it well.

Does anyone know why Cardiff and Swansea sing this version and all the English clubs sing "we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen" ?
Maybe we're less boastful and think there's no need to rub it in by saying by far

I wouldn't want to change the way we've sung it for years, but we do actually get the tune wrong.
It''s to the tune of "The Wild Rover" and the ending we sing "the world has ever seen" instead of "the world's ever seen" so not only the notes wrong, one too many syllables.

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
The Bacuna chant is daft. There's what seems to be about 10 minutes of da-da-da-da....... until you get to his name, and that's it.

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
Harry Roberts is our friend he kills coppers.
Circa 1967, very tasteful

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
"Looking in dustbins for something to eat " not good for one's health or back .
And Bizzies fan chanting Aberfan (certainly stirred us into action)

We’re better than United
And we’re louder than the Kop
We’re going to beat Bournemouth
And we’ll soon be on the top
La la la, la, la, la, la
Poor old Bristol
They’ll soon be going down
They’ll soon be in the Southern League
With poor old Swansea Town
La, la, la, la, la, la ,la
The very often forgotten verses 2 & 3:thumbup:

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
A funny half hour a few seasons ago at Bramall Lane was a few lads by us singing loads of City songs but only using two words, ‘Gavin Rae’. ‘Hey Jude’ became ‘Ga, Ga, Ga, Ga, Ga, Ga, Ga, Ga, Ga, Gavin Rae’ etc etc. Really funny listening to them trying to outdo each other.

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
With regards to Rodney Jack... I remember when he played for Stoke, we were vilified by their fans as they thought we were chanting "you black b,,,,,,,d" to him

What tune was this chant sung to?

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
When the film Zulu was relatively still fresh in people's minds there used to be a mimic chant where one person screamed something along the lines of Ayeeeeekakaka where the rest of the Grange would respond Scoular!!! rather than Zulu. When he left there were a few attempts to replace the response with O'Farrell to mixed results!

McNamara’s Band, it’s the second and third verses of ‘His Name Is Jimmy Scoular’

‘Hallelujah Jimmy Scoular, Jimmy Scoular’ was another one dedicated to him, he had a few, didn’t he?

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
Singing Hymns and Arias a Jacks and a rugby song.
-
Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
Years ago I committed quite hard over a decent period of time to trying to get Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy, Floyd Haaaaaasseilbank to catch on to the tune of Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs. Roaring failure

It was against Crewe in the FA Cup when Jason Bowen scored that ridiculous own goal. I think it was mentioned on TV or in the press.

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
For those cold, Wednesday night affairs:
Show me the way to go home.
I'm tired and I wanna go to bed.
For there's only half a football team
And the rest are f****** dead
('And the rest are still in bed' if ladies present)

‘For they’re only half a football team’
It was referring to the opposition.

There used to be a few anti police songs, didn’t there.
‘I’ll sing you a song and it won’t take long
All coppers are bastards
I’ll sing you you another one
Just like the other one
All coppers are bastards’
Led to a few ACAB tattoos on the fingers perhaps.

Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
‘Freddie’s in our goal
Peter's on the wing
Donald Murray centre half
And Toshack is our king
Oh my Toshack is our king
Toshack is our king’
To ‘Knee’s up Mother Brown’
-
Re: What are the daftest chants you’ve heard down the City?
Wayuls instead of correctly chanting Wales which is the country the City play in. The mispronunciation is annoying for me.

Yet, we still insist that it's Eng-er-land that's full of shit, not England.
