Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
My first game in ages. They'll dominate possession, batter our goal, have 25 attempts, 15 on target, but it'll end 0-1 - Moore on the break.

My first away in a very long time, but I don't share your optimism.

The team sheet announcement at 6.45pm will be very interesting. I think we will get an ‘inkling’ then as to whether our chances will be slim or non existant.

I don't think I've ever found a team selection so fascinating. He could be a stubborn pr!ck and stick with 5 at the back. Or he could go the other way and fill the team with youngsters in an attacking formation hoping to prove a point that his way was the best. Ideally it'll be more like the team and formation we had against Reading

Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
We should be able to deal with Mitro. It’s anyone that has the slightest bit of pace that will undo us

Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
The Mule, will stick to 5 across the back

Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Match facts
- Fulham and Cardiff City last met in the 2019-20 Championship play-offs, with the Cottagers winning 3-2 on aggregate, though they did lose 2-1 at Craven Cottage in the second leg.
- Excluding play-offs, Cardiff have won none of their last six away league games against Fulham (D3 L3) since a 2-1 win in the Premier League in 2013-14.
- Fulham have already won twice in the Championship this season on a Wednesday, beating Birmingham away and Swansea at home. They last won three on the bounce on this day back in September 2017.
- Excluding play-off games, Cardiff City have won just two of their last 33 league visits to London (D13 L18), wins at Brentford in March 2015 and March 2018.
- Cardiff manager Mick McCarthy has lost his last four league matches against Fulham, all when he was Ipswich Town manager in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.

I can just visualise the pained expressions on the faces of our defenders (take your pick), they'll be like rabbits caught in the headlights of a car as Mitrovic moves past them with the ball. :yikes:

I remember watching us against Coventry, commentary we're saying we were playing a higher defensive line as they had no pace to threaten us, it didn't take more than a straight and basic pass to open us up and the slow fella had a field day. Mitrovic, if he feels like it, can embarrass us tonight.

Obviously.

Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I think he'll throw in some youngsters but not change the system/shape, we'll get battered and he'll just shrug his shoulders and go on about how they're not ready etc

More excited for the team announcement than the game 🤣

Nelson, Ralls and Bacuna missing altogether. Morrison on the bench. Patten and Evans on the bench.
Changes to shape and personnel - much more positive.
Why didn't he do that last game?

Can’t help but feel that’s a team for MM to say I told you so, you wanted attacking and look what happened.
He goes from a back 5 of CBS to a back four with attacking fullbacks against one of the best attacking teams.
Where is the middle ground?
If only he has gone for that team against a poor Swansea team
-
Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Fair play to McCarthy, in the circumstances a positive team selection for tonight.
He must have his fingers crossed, though, as the possibility is there they'll get overrun
Good luck, boys
-
Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Let’s face it, defending hasn’t worked. They can’t score if the ball is in their half.
-
Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Acording to WOL Ralls is out with a collar bone injury he picked up at the Liberty.

Shit or bust for MM
Fingers tightly crossed but very pessimistic.
Expect Fulham to declare at 4

This^^^
Surely there would have been less vitriol fired at him, even if the scoreline was the same.
Baffling

Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Fairplay to him picking that team and formation, but the constant changes cant do much for the players confidence. He's managed enough at this level (inserting a full stop here is sufficient 🙂) to know the constant tinkering isnt helpful.

Should have picked a side like this weeks ago. Too late Mick.

That remains to be seen. This line-up is a huge departure from McCarthy's normal set-up and, truth be told, we don't really know how good any of these youngsters are. Regardless of the result, I hope none of them get embarrassed this evening against a Fulham side that is clearly a class above most teams at this level.

That's my concern. Shouldn't be introducing them in games like this, especially under the pressure of a losing run when the manager's been told he's got 2 matches to save his job.
Hope the youngsters at least put in a good performance.
-
Re: FULHAM v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I like this line up, we will probably lose as it's a very good Fulham side but I hope we give it a go

Maybe he’s already gone and someone else has picked this team? Or Vincent did?
