Labour, sorry NEW labour, have a track record of shifting their position in a desperate attempt to gain power.
They need to go back to their roots, make their position absolutely clear and choose a leadership that is credible and electable.
Right now they appear to be little more than Tory-Lite.

The British people will never vote for a party of the far Left. They have rejected it time after time. And when it comes packaged as Milliband and Balls, two of the most vacuous specimens you could wish to encounter, and the most extreme Leftist candidates since Foot and Kinnock, the outcome was inevitable. If Labour gets its act together, ignores the dinosaurs of the Trade Union movement, and elects someone of the Centre like Alan Johnson, for whom I have the utmost respect, then they may find their way back. But the politics of envy have no place in Britain and it's time Labour learned the lesson.
Milliband, Balls (and Clegg) - take your Mansion Tax and stick it where the sun don't shine.
As for Scotland, I don't believe everybody who voted SNP wants separation. I think they took one look at Millband (the Conservatives were never in it) and voted anti-Labour - not because he's not Left enough, but just because he is obviously inept. We'll see in the Scottish elections next year.

I think that emphasis must now be placed on direct action. If we can't fight for the poor and vulnerable through the ballot box, we will need to do it on the streets if this becomes necessary.

I have to say that it was really disappointing to see so many people vote Tory and UKIP. I can't believe that there are 11 Tory MPs in Wales - didn't we wipe them out at one time?
I suppose that at times of austerity people, generally, tend to want to stick with what they have got - rather than trying something different - especially if politicians know which buttons to press in order to play on people's fears.
Left of centre parties all over Europe have struggled recently - so maybe this was not the right time. But Labour lost my vote long ago, by impersonating Thatcherism.

you say we need a socialist party but the number of votes given to socialist parties in this election was tiny. The British people just don't want socialism, you need to accept that the UK is pretty centrist swinging a little to the right or left every so often

there were several socialist parties standing in this election. if you look at the number of votes they secured you will see that the UK electorate doesn't fancy socialism. why not just accept its an outdated ideology in the same way the UK no longer has capitalists controlling its resources. society has evolved

The SNP have a very credible leader who sadly won't be gracing the opposition benches in Westminster, they've been consistent in their message.
Labour on the other hand are a total mess. Diet-Tories most of them, I was gobsmacked to learn they had supported the Tory welfare cap. If the likes of Mick and his ilk (sorry, couldn't resist) not voting for them isn't a wake up call, I don't know what is

Labour needs to become a Party that will fight for Wales and not a Party that is there to make up the numbers so that they can rule in Westminster. Unless that happens and Labour continues to take Welsh voters for granted there is a danger that the Party will go the same way as in Scotland. But the last thing Labour needs is a lurch to the left; that will make the Party even more unelectable than it is at present.

In betraying their principles - as they have done over the years - they are destroying themselves. Yet they feel that unless they move to the right, they will not get elected. I would have had much more respect for Labour if they had kept clause 4. Far from being an old fashioned document, it was a radical and forward looking one (cue for a debate).

No, more a case of, no matter how many bullies there out there that want to tread on us and steal our dinner money, we will not put up with it and will fight back. Even if most of the school yard wants to look the other way.
