Welsh Punk 76-85

Haven't got time to answer all the threads, as there's plenty I disagree with, gotta go out.
Beggar, I'd certainly class as a Punk band when they started, even played at the legendary Roxy Club I think.
No Label were from Tredegar
Pseudo Sadists were from Swansea.

Other bands not mentioned include New Form--cardiff, The Nylonz, Mad Dog--Rhondda--later metal band, but def a Punk band when they started out,French Lettuce--cardiff, Industrial Chipmunks,--cowbridge, Rudy and The Russians, Screen Gemz, Insanity Squad--Cardiff, UKZ--llantrisant, Mutilated Jelly--caerphilly, later became Doc Savage...Slaughter Tradition--Barry, Heretics--Cardiff, Venom--Swansea...most of these have recorded songs... that'll do for now.,

Used to know the 4 members of French Lettuce, the Murphy sisters (guitarist and bassist went to my school). They used to play Grassroots quite often and supported UK SUBS in the Top Rank.

Aye that's them in their 80's Metal period. Late 70's they were far Punkier, check out their songs on 'Is the War Over' for a better idea of what they were like originally.

Saw them at both venues, the singer always had different coloured hair if I remember.

Only ever saw them in their metal days at venues like Bogiez & downstairs at The Great Western (was it called the Lions Den ?) & various valleys pubs & clubs.

Completely disagree, I think the 76-77 lot--bands and punters-- were mostly poseurs in the big cities, with very little interest in the music. They soon moved onto other fashions, once Punk wasn't hip anymore...while some of us stayed behind to mourn...in my case, still there...Dirtbox Disco, Bishops Green, Ming City Rockers, Slaves, Dragster, The Briefs, Miscalculations and many more bands around today who are just as good as what was about back in the day.

I went to see the Saints, didn't get in to see the support, as I was having grief about being underage. The bouncers always gave in eventually, but would make us young uns wait.

Bryn went on to play with The Damned and until very recently teamed up with Andy Johnson again to form The Shamones, a Ramones tribute band. Sadly Bryn is now seriously ill with cancer and the Shamones are playing their final couple of gigs before retirement.

It was empty, the first album was pretty poor, but Eternally Yours is a great album, far more R'n B than Punk, but still sounds good today.
