Train fare's £3.80, so make it £33.80 and you're on.

As I’ve said before, until all human beings can just see another human being stood in front of them then racism, homophobia etc will be rife.
I give every single person I meet in life, the same starting point, no matter what colour, religion, nationality or sexual preference.
As long as they are polite, and good natured, we’ll get on well.

I wonder if Schofield was thinking this as he met his future wife?

Just read this so not taking credit for it. It did make me chuckle though and may or may not even apply to me 🤣
“Philip Schofield lies to his wife for 27 years and my wife thinks he’s a hero... I lie to her about going for a pint and I’m a useless waste of space scumbag”...

This article isn’t about Phillip Schofield.
Well, ok. Maybe it is, just a little. But it’s more about the wider issues thrown up by Schofield’s decision, at the age of 57, to come out as a gay man, and the predictably grim reactions to that decision in the press and on social media....
-
Re: City superfan Phillip Schofield comes out as gay
Well, well, we’ll.
He has come out because he’s been caught with his pants down with an ex employees. Jumped before he was pushed.
Spare a thought for his wife and kids for the double life their so called husband and father has been leading.
Shock, horror.

I'm sure he'd love to but Philip Schofield is pretty famous in the UK and if he left his wife and got together with a man then it'd be all over the news, he'd have press doorstepping him and his family, it'd be chaos during an already emotionally tough time. He's doing it this way to own and control the conversation.

Sadly, I think we have to recognise that people who are LGBTQ+ will still face prejudice and a good chunk of that will be from people who claim to find the topic boring or redundant or are our current prime minister. Wrestler Cody Rhodes said to his wife (person of colour) that he didn't see race to which she responded then you don't see what I have experienced. You've seen how unkind some of the comments in this thread have been despite surely being read by people in similar position to Schofield.

Its always been difficult to come out, probably even more so when you've got a wife and kids, people don't truly care who's gay and who isn't do they? but it's probably built up for years and got gradually harder.*
Most gay people make an announcement of sorts to family and friends when they come out, it's difficult because "the norm" is for a man to love a woman. So he's only done on TV what others do with people they know, it also stops speculation, if he was to "come out" behind closed doors papers would be ride with rumours etc as it slowly leaked.*
Probably makes it easier for people watching too, who are thinking about coming out
-
Re: City superfan Phillip Schofield comes out as gay
Imagine if Cliff Richard bucked the trend while appearing on Loose Women or similar shite.
"Actually, contrary to decades of speculation, I've only ever been interested in quim and will rodger anything in a frock".
A & Es nationwide would fill with punters nursing dented heads having fainted with shock.

The rumour of him being a fan stemmed from his sometime stand-in in the Broom cupboard of CBBC, Simon Potter, was/Is a City fan (sat by me in bob bank a few times i think). A birthday cake was once given to him in the studio with our badge/crest on

I was only 12 when that happened so can't remember the reaction to Barrymore coming out but I've just had a google and it seems that no one hated him, in fact he was well supported by the public:
Despite the news, Barrymore's popularity didn't wane with the public.
Liddiment added: "The vast majority of the public accepted him for who he was. His audience were way ahead of the tabloids. He was just as authentic to them."
In the first awards ceremony after Barrymore came out, the National Television Awards, he won all three categories he was nominated in, including most popular entertainment presenter.
He insisted he had "no regrets" and paid tribute to his supporters, adding "my fans have been marvellous".
In an emotional acceptance speech, Barrymore said: "I’d like to say it isn’t what happens to you in your life it’s uh, how you deal with it.
"And when you have the support and love of a nation, then no problem apart from death, is unsolvable."

If a 51 year old straight man was having an affair behind his wifes back with an 18 year old female colleague he would be getting pelters, and rightly so. Dirty old bastard.

Has this been in the news? I've not been following the story at all.

the young lad however deleted his official twitter account :sherlock:
nothing more mentioned on theis morning show... but if things escalate i wont be surprised if he will need to take a little time out to reflect... or that is what we will be told :hehe:
like anything we are only being told what they want us to hear.. like the virus... 900 dead lol yeah right ok more like 4 times that...

Is it certain the lad on twitter was genuine then? What did he say and why did he delete his account?

It's all boring as ****. The guy isn't a hero and he isn't a victim. The whole sexuality and identity bollocks gets on my tits.

If people were accepting of others it wouldn't need to be an issue.
It's only still a big deal because being gay is still seen as wrong by lots of people in the UK. You say it gets on your tits but imagine having to hide your sexuality.

It's relentless. I'm fed up of hearing how people are "brave" "heroes" etc.
If they want to be gay crack on, but the whole issue and the media attention it gets is getting tiring.
No doubt now we will have documentaries about it. He had a round of applause last night ffs.
Its embarrassing.
-
Re: City superfan Phillip Schofield comes out as gay
But the issue is people who want to be usually can't "crack on" because it's not that easy in society.
It's like people moan about gay pride because they don't understand the reason for it.
Gay people are still massively oppressed and coming out as gay is still a very difficult thing to do. Gay couples are more likely to be assaulted than heterosexual couples by a ridiculous margin. If society didn't have bigots you wouldn't need the people to be "brave heroes".
I don't understand how people are bored and tired of this, what media are you consuming where phillip schofield is being talked about all the time :hehe: I've seen hardly anything

I'm inclined to agree with those who say his wife is the victim not him.
The last 27 years of her life has been a lie. Yet I'm supposed to be crying into my TV cos he's had it so hard. Give me break.
I don't advocate anyone getting victimized in any way but I'm also fed up to the back teeth of being told what I should believe and seeing people on TV in their little bubble shouting "how dare you" at people who dare to think differently to them.
