Re: Off to benidorm next week should I be worried?
A Benidorm expat resident who runs a Spanish website for Brits was on the radio this morning advising people to leave Spain now as all flights to the UK are likely to be banned by Tuesday at the latest. Apparently Easy Jet are arranging a couple of repatriation flights today so the only likely option will be Ryan Air until the Spanish government's ban comes into effect.

The problem with that is what is happening in America now where hundreds cram into compact airports as the very opposite to "social distancing".

Re: Off to benidorm next week should I be worried?
We are having a ball at the moment in our hotel room. I'm with Edinburgh Blue who used to post on here and 14 others getting bolluxed.
Not allowed out the hotel now only in our rooms and down for food in the restaurant.
Got a good Bluetooth speaker banging out the tunes in the sun on our balcony.
The reality is though, we don't leave until Tuesday.
This will definitely be happening in the UK guys so be warned.
It's mental. I've posted loads of videos on my Facebook page of the streets below. It's like a ghost town. Cars with speakers on the roof warning that anyone caught outside will be arrested and to stay indoors.
Our hotel shuts down completely on Tuesday when we leave along with most other hotels in benidorm.
We will be truely in the shit if British Airways cancels flights after Monday.

Re: Off to benidorm next week should I be worried?
Here's a Benidorm article with pics of tourists drinking cans on the street because the bars and restaurants are shut. No-one is allowed on the beach either. The story says there's been 0 Benidorm coronavirus deaths.

Go by train
from London St Pancras Eurostar and arriving at Benidorm via Paris Nord, Paris Gare De Lyon, Barcelona-Sants and Alicante - Luceros. The journey, including transfers, takes approximately 17h
The homeward leg takes the same time

And the French are cutting back long distance travel. It's not cheap either. A few years back, I looked into UK to Barcelona by train....about £500 return each. When the volcano in Iceland went off, in 2010, a family I know got back as far as Madrid from their holiday in Costa Rica. No chance of trains back home as everything was booked up. They ended up hiring a car, one way, plus a ferry journey through Cherbourg as the tunnel was booked up (and Dover -Calais ferries). Cost them £2500 to get home. Under normal circumstances, getting home by train is a good shout. But we don't live in normal times.

Are you back on home soil now Uncle Bob?

Re: Off to benidorm next week should I be worried?
I'm back. Thanks. Well that was certainly an experience I'll never forget. Half a day into a holiday and the whole country goes into lockdown. Stuck in our hotel room for days.
At least when it happens here we will be able to cook for ourselves and not live on crisps like many had to

Re: Off to benidorm next week should I be worried?
The biggest balls up since Katiypour. Glad to know you're back. Don't knock a crisp sandwich though.
