Re: A Cringeworthy City Moment
The tannoy announcement towards the end of the Stoke playoff game in 2002.
Stay behind after the final whistle to applaud the players as they take a lap of honour.
Cue Stoke's equaliser an extra time winner 🙄

And I also recall lots of surplus scarves left on the concourse as we walked out. But let’s not re write history, it was an embarrassing, pathetic response from us, who by and large just accepted it.
And were glad of a freebe.....
We all know that the support base of this football club by and large accepted the change to Red. Some were just happy to be promised money for players , some openly embraced the idea , some threatened others who didn't want our colours changed etc and many reluctantly accepted the change whilst voicing their displeasure
But with regard to the specific point I distinctly remember reading reports of scarves being set on fire , toilets being blocked and the urinals full of red scarves
In the following days letters were being posted online and in the western mail from " angry of Bedwas " saying some of our fans were yobs for their actions
The club of course had two options , to openly come out and criticise those who flushed scarves down the bogs and blocked them or keep quiet , printing silly pictures of fans in red , which they did .

I know id had a few but I really enjoyed that day. The team was utter garbage but had a right go that day.
As bad as they were some Dave Jones teams with so much talent were far more embarrassing.

Which reminds me......
When I went to the Belgium vs Wales game at Euro 2016, I drove with my middle son, but we got caught up in some bad delays at Eurotunnel.
The hold ups were so long that we were in danger of missing the game despite having booked onto a morning train. Eventually, we got in the queue, even though our train hadn't been announced, and by showing our match tickets, were waved on.
Once we got going, and debating if we'd make it in time, I got chatting to the people in the car behind us who were also going to the game. They said that they didn't know the route to Lille and so asked if they could follow us - I said that they were welcome to but I'd not be hanging around! We made the game with 9 mins to spare. I don't know whether they did.
Anyway, the driver of the other car in our carriage was......the chap in the video. I remember saying that I recognised him from somewhere and yes, he is related to some Western Mail journalist from recollection. He seemed like a very decent chap by all accounts.
(I didn't ask him for a rendition, in case you are wondering :-))

Losing to Sheffield United 10-2 up at Bramall Lane. New Years Day. City players looked grey, Ferguson throwing up in the United goalmouth after missing a sitter. Fred smacking poor Len Davies around the face trying to sober him up. Carnage..

The Lone Gunman attempting to hit the goals from the half way line in the old days at ninian park

There were also press reports of a World War II bomber being found on the moon.
What you actually said was: "Most of the toilets were blocked up with them (the red scarves) and the urinals and a big mound of them were set on fire in the Ninian Stand."
Total nonsense. Fantasy.
The ever-reliable South Wales Echo claimed: "Supporters told the Echo that about seven scarves were thrown onto the pitch by half time, while several fans dumped their free scarves in the toilets and urinals."
So, the Echo's unverified reports of 'several fans' dumping their free scarves in the toilets and urinals made no suggestion that "most of the toilets and urinals were blocked up with them", as you boldly claimed, and the Echo made no mention of this alleged bonfire in the Ninian Stand either.
I can well remember the reaction on this message board and the personal accounts of friends who were there that night and had expected the majority of City fans to reject the red scarves. They were appalled at how popular the scarves proved. There were reports that a couple were discarded in urinals at the end of the game, but that was it.
As Stevebrickman says in this very thread: "I was in the Ninian that night, and I don’t recall any fires or the toilets over flowing."
There's a good reason Steve doesn't recall those things. It's because they didn't happen. If they had happened, it would have been all over the message boards and the social media sites within minutes. Instead, there were numerous reports from fans who were disgusted by the fact that a large majority of the 23,782 crowd not only accepted the free red scarves but happily wore them.
Your account was a hopeless exaggeration and an attempt to rewrite rebrand history. What really happened was nothing like you described it.

I have read it. And quoted it.
The journalist: "Supporters told the Echo that about seven scarves were thrown onto the pitch by half time, while several fans dumped their free scarves in the toilets and urinals."
The fantasist: "Most of the toilets were blocked up with them (the red scarves) and the urinals and a big mound of them were set on fire in the Ninian Stand."
The realist: "I was in the Ninian that night, and I don’t recall any fires or the toilets over flowing."
Perhaps you should stick to gibbering shite about fishing.

You were suggesting I was lying . Which is complete nonsense
I love fishing , metal , football , history , reading and scoffing loads of curry
Do you want me to teach you how to fish ? Now that you have given up on city
I could even teach you how to kick a football in a straight line if you want ?

Re: A Cringeworthy City Moment
Does every thread involving TLG have to go this way?
He questions the intellect of his foe and then seems to question what people do with their spare time while dedicating a lot of his own to playing with spiders.
I find it all a bit bizarre.

He hasn't given up on City.
He wouldn't go until Tan had gone but changed that to he will go if he gets free tickets from his numerous amount of friends. I've never known a bloke with no interest in something get offered so many tickets for it.
It is up there as a front runner for one of the most Cringeworthy City Moments for me if I was pressed.
The fact he hangs around here acting like King Pompous of CCMB is comedy gold.
-
Re: A Cringeworthy City Moment
I understand that TLG now says that he won't give a penny to City under Tan.
What I would ask TLG is this. Do you not feel that you attending, whether you pay for the ticket or not, helps Tan owned City?
In my opinion a full seat where there would have been an empty one, regardless of if you paid for it or not, helps the team and in a roundabout way helps Tan with him being the owner.
I'd honestly like to know how you attending but not paying for a ticket does not help the team and inadvertently Tan.
For me, you actively choosing to attend is showing support for the team in a fairly straightforward way (attending and sitting in the home section of the ground). This benefits the team and club owned by Vincent Tan. If you don't think it is then ask yourself if the team would prefer to run out in front of a crowd or an empty stadium.

TLG is a moaner
He moaned about warnock then went quiet when we got us promoted
He moaned about Harris then went quiet when we went on that winning run
He is mr angry of South wales
But he's OK, he's a good laugh unless he's off on one
