Re: What’s it like where you live?
All credit to our esteemed leader for starting this thread and the contributions are fascinating to read. All too often the people and the press in this country do not consider matters a global basis (and people in Dover probably no idea what is happening 20 miles away in Calais).
I would be fascinated to hear how you all got to live in such faraway places but that's probably worth a thread on its own.
I dip into the German and US media for my own part but reports from far and wide from you good people is most appreciated.

Nightlife is pretty much the last thing still not open. But restaurants are buzzing and plenty of queues all over. Vaccines have started with a target of everyone having one by the end of the year.
Bloody 'ell!
I'm wondering how your kids managed to cope, stuck indoors for two months without ever going outside (must have been a strain for you too) ??
Couldn't they at least have been afforded some time to catch a little fresh air and stretch their legs a bit?

Can’t imagine how tough that would have been....with Europe lagging so much with regard to vaccinations you wonder about the Euros and travel there this summer....

People, including kids, were still allowed out for daily exercise, but that was only really walking or running. No play areas or swimming pools were open.
So yeah, it was possible to get fresh air if you wanted.

I saw Jimmy Carr live - he opened with "wow, this place is beautiful isn't it? It's like China when they finish it" :hehe:

Yep this. We saw some people out the window walking with their kids but didn’t think that counted as exercise and weren’t desperate enough to risk it. One’s a baby and the 4 year old was happy playing lego every day all day. It was a weird time and we were all losing it towards the end but I wanted to take it very seriously. It helped me stay away from my in-laws. Still does.
