Nothing wrong with him being one, but he used to have a bit of composure on the ball once upon a time.

I think you’re both on the money. All I would do is take out AfricanBluebird’s last paragraph, replace it with your last paragraph and it’s a perfect summary. I’m big on personal responsibility; that includes both manager and individual performances. Some of the basics from MM and the players was woeful.
The starting 11 was a mess. The formation was a mess. We played down the right hand side with Giles for most of the first half. Nothing to offer on the left. No switching play. Nothing through the middle and no precision to exploit our limited attacking options. Don’t know what it was like on TV but up close and personal it was pretty shocking.
He's fulfilled his potential and his engine of motivation has gone ,he's a decent midfielder who perhaps needs a refresh at another club , it's a bit like a long term relationship it wains .
We were garbage today, it was painful to watch at times, no passion, no creativity and certainly no accountability, Phillips was at fault for the first goal what was he thinking??, Nelson is not a Championship player and I'm not sure how Bacuna was on the pitch from the start and why it took so long to sub him?
We had a local derby today and could have gone top of the table albeit briefly , if Mick thinks any of that performance today was acceptable then he's in the wrong job!!!
He set the side up and picked the formation and used the subs as he saw fit!
The full responsibility for that shite today was down to him and him alone, if he couldn't see how ineffective some of his players were today, then it's time to go.
It didn't work, it's boring to watch and I really hope we can get a proper coach in who not only can get players passing to one another, but can actually make it entertaining to watch.
Harris, and Micks style of football belong in the dark ages.
Absolute shite today
Sorry but I think you all exaggerate the City’s failings, as you are entitled to as fans of course. Will stay off this message board for a while as the negativity depresses me! Good luck all for now.
How bout this one https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50190746
Why people bite or try to engage with this Norwegian prick I don’t know.
We've conceded 6 goals in 5 matches so I don't understand why the defence gets of scot-free either (including both our GKs too who I think are poor so far this season). There was one move though which did give a glimpse of what we can do. Flint headed it down to the feet of Sang or Giles I - can't remember - on the right flank which resulted in some slick passing right through the middle of the park to an attacking position in the Bristol City box (I think Moore was on the end of it). It took seconds from defence to get the ball up the park and it was very telling that it was as a result of a CB heading the ball down and not looping it aimlessly forwards and conceding possession.
Joe Ralls. 28k a week allegedly. Criminal.
If people want to moan about the defence then start your own thread.
Anyone who thought Ralls performance was in any way acceptable today needs to stay off the glue.
No need to apologise, threads often go off topic on here - anyway, based on the lack of criticism of our defence following the match, it appears that a couple of our centre halves can do what they like at the back as long as they’re scoring up the other end.
I agree that Ralls is not the same player as he was (he seems less mobile than he was and my feeling is this may be down to the injury which kept him out for some time in 19/20), but I think he and Pack have been combining pretty well this season and I’m a bit puzzled why anyone would single him out for criticism after yesterday’s game - I’m off the booze these days, have never done drugs (apart from the very occasional slice of cannabis cake) and have never been into glue sniffing, so can’t use them as an excuse for not agreeing with the sentiments of this thread when applied to yesterday’s game.
The only thing I would add about Joe Ralls is that I believe he has a painting of himself in a locked attic room somewhere. Has anyone else noticed he hasn't aged since he first started playing for us?
I like Joe Ralls, he's been about an age with us and its not lack of effort from him, he always gives his all, and while it's true him and Pack have started well and I can see what he offers getting up and down the pitch, I'd rather we try a different approach and get someone in there who can control the ball and use a bit of composure to not just rush the ball away from their own feet by hooking it upfield instead of..shock horror.. Controlling it off the chest and not lumping it away. I admit he doesn't always do this but I've seen it once too many already in this short season and it has to stop.
Can someone explain what they want Joe Ralls to be? Sorry to get all DML on the subject, but what exactly are we expecting from him?
:hehe:
I wish I had a pound for every thread I’ve started that has gone off topic within three posts - it happens, who cares?
We conceded a goal yesterday where the scorer was allowed to miscontrol the ball pretty badly and still go on to put the ball in the net without a challenge on him. That’s shocking at this level and I thought it had more to do with our defeat than the performance from a midfielder who, to me, played a bit better than he has done in a lot of games over the past year or so.
Threads do go off topic, it doesn't really matter a great deal nothing worth getting ones knickers in a twist over obviously, but there's a difference between threads veering off topic and someone just appearing on a thread and posting about something completely different, since you asked
I'll begin.
I would like him to pass the ball incisively from time to time, to a player on our team, not sideways 5 yards but forwards. I'd like him to do some extra training on sprinting practice, so that he doesn't look so one-paced. I'd also like it if he could improve his set-piece delivery too.
Now, you may or may not agree with what I've said, however, that's what 'I' would want.
Well, let’s have a bit of accuracy here if you insist on making this an issue. First, my first contribution to this thread was the tenth message in it, not the third (someone had already posted about Ole in it) and it said “thought the midfield wasn’t the problem today - why do people keep on saying we have a good defence?”. Is that really posting “something completely different”?
I haven't watched any video footage of the game so this is now from eye-witness testimony (which is deeply flawed) bit I thought I saw Phillips go for the ball then hesitate, step back, and all I saw after that was the ball in the net. Was Phillips to blame? I'm not accusing Phillips, I haven't watched any replays.
Going back to Ralls, another thing people have mentioned which I think is a valid point is that he doesn't look up for a pass often enough anymore. It is something I noticed yesterday. In recent years, the only midfielder who's done this properly, to my liking, has been Tomlin.
