I know a couple of people with food vans, it's all about the pitch. Get the right one and the food doesn't even have to be that great (but obviously helps for repeat customers and word of mouth business)
The one in ponty b&q is awful but they always look busy, they close early enough as well so must be making their money.

Could make a grand a day on events . Hard work and non stop.
Generally we followed the markets ,£300 a day was fine on the markets but you needed to be in the right place.
Cwmbran was a no no , Chepstow was perfect , lots of Bristolians .
It wasn't all about the money though.
If someone was thinking of going into that business there is so much more money in meat and a larger audience.
I loved the whole thing , building the van , dealing with the customers . Unfortunately I have plans for my time
and working on weekends doesn't fit in.
It is very time consuming .

Re: Personalised Number Plates
I once bought a car and subsequently wondered whether the relatively innocuous number plate might appeal to someone whosename was in a particular format. Put it up for sale with a company that deals as an intermediary regarding such things and got a holiday out of it. I was sent a replacement plate as part of the deal.

Nice advice that.
Turns out my new twaty plate is going to cost me about a takeaway after that valuation over double the price of the one I want to purchase.
Nice one TBG

Re: Personalised Number Plates
I had a private plate for the last 15 years. It was the first half of my email address as well.
Mrs M also had a personalised plate.
We just ditched our old cars and bought a new one. Let the old plates go and now have a new motor with the reg plate as delivered. It actually begins CF which is nice.

Quick question. I don't plan on selling my car for a few years by which point I wouldn't want what would be an older plate on the car anyway, so if I sell the plates on my car and get new ones put on when I come to sell the car in probably 5 years time would I be able to sell it with the new plates on or would I need to have the originals?
Apologies if you don't know....just chancing an answer.

Re: Personalised Number Plates
Why do you need to ask? If you think it's cool, just get it.

If you're going to pay out I think it's worth getting something that doesn't just look like another generic reg plate..
Anyway with registration and all added extras.. like the perspex plates  :hehe: it comes in well under £400. Others I have seen have been double that and more again..
What are people's thoughts on personalised reg plates?
Pay 42.44 to change your name by deed poll and keep the old ones

Oh dear … just bought my missus plates for her car as a Christmas present, good job I love her more than you lot!
Back in the 80s I had a guy ask if he could buy the plates off my car, they were meaningless to me but he coughed up £500, easiest money I’ve ever made.

Once you put the plates on a car they stay on it .
But
If you want to keep the plates , you can either transfer them to your next car (the old car usually goes back to the original plates but DVLA will tell you reg number ) or you can stick them on retention for £80 . Retention is where you still own the plates but they aren't on your car . I think retention lasts 10 years then you have to pay again , not 100% sure on that though.
Everything can be done on line , and is fairly simple.
I have private plates on a couple of my vehicles and a couple more plates on retention.
Some plates will grow in value ,I recently purchased JJ 173 on a dvla auction . I expect it to grow in value ,and of course i am hoping it gives me massive dick value to some of the posters on here .....
The opinions offered on how people choose to spend their money is quite amusing at times.
The delivery of the opinions on things that don't really matter tell you more about the poster than the
actual subject.

Do I have to have the registration plates on the car that were on it when I bought it when I sell it is what I wanted to ask, had a long day yesterday didn't come out right :hehe: or can it be sold with different plates when I come to sell it. I know Jack about cars as you can maybe tell : hehe:

Usually it reverts back to the old plates, that's if you want to keep your own plates.
You can leave your plates on the car if you don't want them.
Does that answer your question?

A mate said I have to put the plates on the car that were on it when I bought it, when I sell it (sorry if I'm going a roundabout way in saying something so simple :hehe:
My plan was a short term plan was to sell the ones already on the car, that were on it when I bought it, get the new ones I've seen which would mean spending out about the same money as I would on a takeaway with the cost difference in both.
Then when I sell the car I wouldn't be arsed about losing the "personalised" plate as they are 64 plates and would have no room on the new car if and when I decide to get one.
I've checked the same plate allbthe way from 64 up to newer 71 and they are all available bar the one, 68 plate, so I know I'll have no issues getting a newer version of the plate when I wvwntually get a newer model car..
Sorry for the long read, but my mate was adamant the plates registered to the car had to be on it when I sold it (meaning I can't sell them and would just have to pay out for the new ones bo big fortune anyway at 360 quid all in)
Cheers for the help Jimmy.

Some years ago I once contacted the DVLA about resurrecting a number plate that was on a car that my father once owned which would have brought back many memories. The letters don’t resemble my name ar all (unless I change my name to Jayne Mansfield!). However I was told that number plates on scrapped vehicles can’t be resurrected. Pity, it would have been nice for old times same.
Same here. I wanted CTG 54V from my first car - a Talbot Horizon and got told that it had been scrapped.
It’s a real shame because you’d think there’s a money pot there for the Government. They could assign the chassis number (VIN) to another number - not a reg - and release the plate, but that would be too complicated.
On the subject of personalised plates, my Dad had one which had the name of his business, so we bought it off my Mum to keep it in the family when he passed and put in my wife’s car, as she wanted one.
Personally, I’m not bothered by them. Some people spend a fortune on their golf or their aftershave collection, so live and let live, eh!

Ah right .
No you can sell the originals . They are yours with the car.
DVLA would issue new plates if you kept tour personal number plate (which you ownt so the car will go with your personal number on it.
I sold a van to a guy before (one I had bought in) and the previous owner had forgotten to take his personal plate of the van .
I went to the guy who had bought the van and asked him for the plate back, he just said no.... because he had bought the van with the personal number plate on it , he had bought the plate as well....
