So you working through the game then we’re you?
Didn’t see any of it, but I understand there were about 10,000 empty seats.
My question is what is happening to all of the money raised from these exorbitant prices? Based on Cardiff and the Dragons I think it was losing by an aggregate score of something like 115-12 to Irish regions last weekend, it’s not being put back into the game. The fact that the Welsh team is still pretty competitive is a bit of a surprise when you see how weak our four “first class teams” are - there seems far more money available to four of the other five sides in the Six Nations, and possibly Italy as well, for their clubs and regions to bring in better quality imports than you get in Wales.

I caught about 15 minutes and it looked like one whole stand at one end was completely empty. Apparently the WRU and the BBC were putting a bit of spin on the subject - a friend of the Mrs. who works in the Sports Centre was offered 4 free tickets earlier this week and was told it was because 'the French weren't travelling over this year.."
Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets
I was in town last night and was offered tickets for £10
there were lots of french in town last night
Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets
It was a poor game. Both teams aimlessly kicked away possession. We were very competitive but lacked creativity
France are overhyped. Yes they beat the All Blacks on home soil last year but they wouldn’t beat them in New Zealand or the Boks for that matter.
The WRU should hang their heads in shame and learn from the sensible pricing structure the FAW have had in place for a number of years.
They have also starved the regions of proper funding. All four regions are pretty hopeless these days. The days of tickets being rarely available for Six Nations home games are long gone. The complacency of the WRU combined with their stupidity knows no bounds.
As someone who has struggled to get to a Glamorgan T20 game on a Friday night with 5000 in attendance what on earth are the WRU doing playing a match on such an evening. I dread to think how bad the traffic issues were both pre and post match.

Wasn’t it Wales and France who instigated Friday night games? Think that maybe why they’ve been lumbered with them

Yes they were the only ones interested but it’s not set in stone and I don’t think we will see Friday night matches going forward. If they want a night match play it on a Saturday night when work traffic won’t be a problem.
Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets
I don't think it's traffic or prices
I think it's a case of can't be arsed and the rugby obsessed welsh not being that at all
When CCFC or whatever team you support have a game somewhere on a Friday night with no trains you find a way to be there if it costs 60 quid
But some are put off and some can't afford it
But apparently we as a nation .....love our rugby......
10000 seats empty shows that isn't the case

A friend gave me a couple of free tickets for myself and my daughter. It took us just under four hours to get from Reading to my usual parking spot in Canton. An hour 45 back! The tickets were in the upper tier at £100 a pop. As you say massively overpriced.
Enjoyed the event. We seemed to be in a part of the ground where there were more French fans than most. They were mostly young and it provided a lively atmosphere. Don't know whether it was this but there was far less too and fro for beer than the previous game I attended against Italy about four years ago. Still there were a number of fans around us who seemed perfectly sensible pre match who were talking absolute drivel by its end from the beers they consumed.
Might be biased and a consequence of the empty seats but the anthem was not a patch on how it has been at recent games at the Cardiff City Stadium. Delayed a bit on the walkway along the Taff at the end as a poor guy was being given CPR. It looked a futile cause but hopefully they brought him back.

I think they get more TV money for the Friday games.
It wasn't just stay-away Wales fans contributing to the crowd. There were less French there aswell, put off by uncertainty over potential covid travel restrictions and taking more time off work.

Sounds grim regarding the guy at the end. Not good.
Yep trying to get to Glammy games on a Friday night from Cheltenham was a nightmare. Much easier on the way home. Is it me who thinks the atmosphere at the Principality is over-rated? Been quite a few times over the years and found it to be a bit lacking.
Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets
The pricing policy was ridiculous. You can't charge £100 a seat for the worst spots in the ground, and hope to sell all the tickets. Whoever set the prices needs to be sacked.

It was a bit flat. It's a shame that the roof is almost always open these days as that may ramp it up a bit, but if both teams need to agree and the opposition believe that gives Wales an advantage it is rarely going to happen I suppose.

When covid restrictions were greater a few months ago, I think it was decided to keep the roof open to have events there classed as outdoor. A closed roof would have meant it being an indoor event and fewer potential ticket sales.

THey only sing when they're winning.

England voted against it because of the strong protest regarding Friday traffic on one of the main commuter routes on the south western side...and I think they got it right.
Re: Wales v France Six Nations Unsold Tickets
if last night's game meant something it'd be full, people are far more likely to find £100 with a grand slam or title on the line than for what was basically a dead rubber. Coupled with households feeling the squeeze financially I'm not surprised it wasn't a sellout

Quite a few empty seats at the England v Ireland game
