He was what used to be described as a blue beat singer.

Beatles, Kinks ,the Who and the Small Faces.

Going to see the two surviving members of the Who this week at the Albert Hall as they are doing an acoustic set.

Don’t think any Motown greats have been mentioned yet. Seen most of them but would love to see the 60s versions of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson (a wonderful artiste) & The Miracles, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Supremes. Aretha Franklin would be someone to see also.

Saw most of the Motown greats mentioned in a package show that included Stevie Wonder in 1965. The gig was only three-quarters full and they had to pad out the bill with Georgie Fame

I went to a couple in the Capitol in the late 60s/early 70s, excellent value for the acts on show, as you say they were ‘package’ tours.

I heard lots of bands playing in the Capitol when I was working next door in the Lexington kitchen. The only band I ever saw inside the Capitol was Led Zeppelin. Have a distant memory of a daytime festival in the grounds of the castle. Was it 10cc?

10cc, Thin Lizzy, Steeleye Span, Man. Got soaked through. My Blue and Brown leather jacket left an imprint on my skin! 1974?

I would love to go back and see Bowie in the Colston Hall in Bristol during his Ziggy Stardust period. We did plan on going, but for some reason we never made it. Money probably. We were still in school.

I was there with my girlfriend at the time and drenched would be an understatement. My overriding memory being that we got a taxi home and I had to peel my saturated fivers apart to pay for the fare.

I mentioned one of the greatest Parker

Frank Sinatra at the Copa. Jimi Hendrix in 1966. Pink Floyd in '67. The Stooges in '69. The New York Dolls at the Mercer Arts Center. The Velvet Underground at the Factory.

Queen at Wembley, I was only 6 years old sadly.

Buddy Holly's last concert to tell him not to get on the plane - it would have been really fascinating to see how he would have developed given what he'd already done at a very early age,

I would have loved to have seen The Smiths but timings meant I never got round to it.
I went away to Uni just before their infamous gig at Newport, and they didn't include my Uni on their tour and for some reason never did.
