that often happens with a change in manager, as players are fighting to geep their place under the new guy.
it doesn't last though so we need to see what substance Hudson can bring beyond the initial bounce

I don't think I've said anything too outlandish there at all, the performances are broadly similar to many games this season, on the better end of the spectrum of performances, but we've had good performances already this season, if we can get more consistency and a more regular goal threat then that will be a step forward.
you wouldn't really expect much to be fundamentally different though yet, same players, same coaches of course it is going to be similar.
The workers looked happier and more content under a boss who gives the impression that he’s nowhere near as tetchy or moody as the previous gaffer came across as. Much the same as any industry I s’pose.
There's more intent there under Hudson. We are going at teams. Hudson has said it on the VFTN podcast, he says you have to have a go at home. We are clearly doing that. There are definitely concerns, and I think a lot of that is personnel (we don't have a midfield capable of scoring bar Colwill, which is not ideal after he signed a new squad!).
True, but I also mentioned the change of tactics, high press putting opposition under presssure, and not playing the ball out from the back every single time, resulting is less pressure for us, and conceding less goals, and us getting the ball in their box quicker from the quick long kicks with the opposition having less players in there to block and defend.
I think these simple changes have already made a significant change to the overall performance and is more enjoyable to watch.
Thought all of the talk about a more attacking outlook under Hudson was crap when I saw our line up and approach against Burnley, but it was definitely there on Tuesday. In a way, a horses for courses approach is the best one and Burnley’s possession stats are very impressive this season, so I should really have been more understanding of what we were doing against them.
It’ll be interesting to see what our approach is tomorrow.
What I hope to see tomorrow is more of the same from this week, I don't think we need to sit back and invite pressure on us with a hope of hitting them on the counter break.
Our away form and results have been pretty crap this season, I'd like to see Hudson take the initiative and go for the win with a high press.
In reality he has nothing to lose
We looked far better pressing. Blackburn and Ayala in particular were really poor in possession at the back.
We pressed them into mistake after mistake. We are just not good enough in the final 3rd.
After the goal we stopped pressing and we looked vulnerable.
We are poor in the air in both boxes.
Our back 5 are suprisingly really comfortable playing out from the back.
Yeah, a bit more urgency, like in Tuesday. I do think that people need to take a step back a bit. It's obvious what Hudson is attempting to do so far, and that's to win the 2nd balls, play with more intensity, be quicker on the ball. Whether he can sustain that is another matter. We still didn't create much in the final third and we didn't defend well on the free kick that led to the penalty, but the goal was forced by us playing a high line and not letting them set themselves. Opportunities will come our way if we are prepared to play that way and take those risks.
Aside from the penalty, they barely had a sniff the other night. We are tantalisingly close to being a good side at this level. Just need to be a bit more confident in attack without losing the defensive solidity (and tightening up at free kicks at both ends of the pitch). Hopefully the attack should improve as the players get to know each other better, they will start to know where each others runs will be and be able to attack with more confidence.
Would like to see us bring in a set piece specialist as well
They had arguably the best 2 chances. The one Allsop saved with his trailing leg and the one Dack mis controlled.
They also had a stonewall penalty turned down when Kipre cleaned out Gallagher and maybe another when Ng tripped the same player.
We need to start scoring. We were by far the better side but we could easily have thrown the game away
Well, well, well.
No more words needed.
Yep. Who'd have thunk it.
