You are deluded if you think it's the same thing . People who are dyed in the wool fans of smaller clubs in Wales are part of the football community , the idiots from Pontypridd going to Old Trafford are fakes
Sludge, perhaps you could help solve a problem for me.
I live 10 minutes walk from Aberdare Town's ground, which isn't in Aberdare btw. I'm also a similar distance from my own village side.
Suppose both sides have a home game on a Saturday, while Merthyr and Cardiff City are also at home. Which team should I go to see?
1) My local village team, who play in whatever minor division they are in.
2) According to you, it's ok to watch your local league club, so I can watch Aberdare as they're a Welsh league side. They're bigger than my most local team, but I suspect that's ok.
3) There's Merthyr, more local than Cardiff and play in a bigger football pyramid than Aberdare. They're bigger than Aberdare, but I suspect that's ok.
4) Of course, I could ignore both of my local sides and go and support my nearest big football league club, Cardiff City. They're bigger than Merthyr, but I suspect that's ok.
It's a bit of a quandry, really. There's always the next option.
5) Seeing as I'd be allowed to travel further to be a glory hunter and support a big Championship team instead of my two local sides, why does that have to stop at Cardiff? The Midlands has a couple of even bigger teams that would take me about an hour and a half more to get to. Hell, if I'm prepared to go that far, why not Liverpool, London or Manchester and support a really massive club? Given options 1-4, they're all bigger than Cardiff City, but I suspect that's ok.....

Well it's perfectly possible to watch .....Aberdare......and Merthyr .....and Cardiff City
You can still keep it fairly local then
You don't have to go to Stamford Bridge

If you are able to take in both Cardiff and Merthyr games why is it blokes phone up radio stations with Cardiff accents pretending to be Liverpool fans ?
