Based on the logic that watching the coronation means supporting all historical wrongs, we can only assume his choice of name indicates support for the destruction of an entire culture!?
Or we could all just chill out and not make such ridiculous assumptions?!
indeed.
trawling over the past while ignoring the real sacrifice and great progress made in modern times seems very much an American pastime, it's insufferable.

Yeah, it was the government choice and not, you know, King Charles....
Delusional.
May lost 1300 council seats, remind us how the following general election went.

America spends over £100 million every 4 years to inaugurate their President. Last coronation was 70 yrs ago. The economic benefit to hospitiality, tourism will dwarf that cost. Can't you just be happy rather than echo the grim. bitter misery that pervades on this board whenever non-football matters arise..

If so let the loons carry on.

Ann Daly from Cardiff on the news
Dressed up in the Welsh dragon
Holding up a cardboard cut out of Charles , she's been there overnight
These people are clinically insane

Sludge, you need more joy in your life (don't we all).
Yesterday you and others were expressing delight over wet weather on a Bank holiday weekend.
That's not normal, and it's definitely not the kind of thing to rally people to the republican course.
My kids went to school yesterday for a coronation party. Then coming on CCMB and seeing grown men take pleasure in rain impacting upon parties etc..it strikes a sour note.
Just don't watch it. No one is making you or anyone else!

Absolutely. Literally everything is bonkers when you boil it down.
How sane is spending time and money watching a football team your entire life? When fans care far more than the players etc....... then to come on to a message board and debate it. Haven't we got anything better to do?
How ridiculous is listening to a guy singing a song or banging a drum?
And films aren't real!! Why give them the time of day?!
And hundreds of thousands of people do marathons etc only after 6 hours of running to end up back where they started the stupid ****ers!
Literally everything can be ridiculed and made to look ridiculous if you think about it too hard.

And I heard of people who cried when Gary speed and whitts died. How many had personally met them and they were a big part of their personal lives?
The monarchy isn't for me but surely you can see what some people get from the monarchy is exactly what you say about you get from football? Being a constant etc.....

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
I’m planning to watch it all day moaning about it.
London Cabbies seem to have a peculiar obsession with the royals.

A lot of Tories have been too busy to vote this week. Blue rinses to be sorted out, Union flag suits to be pressed and ironed, learning the lines of oaths & pledges etc, hectic week for the subjects.

Hopefully one of the royals will go into hospital for an ingrowing toenail the day before the election and they will be too besides themselves to vote

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Personally the whole thing is not for me. No issue with anyone who wants to celebrate it but to me the whole thing is a load of garbage. Elitism, get out of jail free for any crimes you commit in life, pretend you are better than anyone else. No thanks got more important things to do with my life.

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
It's certainly dragging on and on and the Archbishops voice doesnt half drone on. Also most people in the Abbey can't see anything which I always find amusing at these things.
The highlight so far was that Floella Benjamin was carrying some of the jewels .

Probably got little TVs like the very back rows of the lower tier in the millennium stadium.
Gutted to have missed Floella Benjamin

Sounds like you have plenty of ‘issues’ with anyone who wants to watch it to me.

What is insane are people who continually state they have no interest in the Royal Family whilst at the same time spending half their life moaning about them and coming on social media sites like this to try to belittle them and insult them. You don't have to be religious or even like members of the Royal Family to enjoy things like this event but surely even someone like you can understand the ceremony and history around it gives enjoyment and comfort to many people.
